Maribel se gradu\u00f3 en 1977, y aunque inicialmente quer\u00eda obtener un t\u00edtulo universitario, el lanzamiento de su carrera como <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/wikistarsbio.com\/maribel-guardia\/\" target=\"_blank\">modelo<\/a> la hizo cambiar de opini\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Fue notada por productores de Televisa cuando particip\u00f3 en el concurso de belleza Miss Universo 1978, y fue invitada a mudarse a M\u00e9xico para iniciar su carrera actoral. Maribel no apareci\u00f3 en otra pel\u00edcula hasta que se mud\u00f3 a M\u00e9xico, y algunos de sus primeros papeles all\u00ed fueron en el drama \u201cComo M\u00e9xico no Hay Dos\u201d, el drama b\u00e9lico de aventuras \u201cJuan Charrasqueado y Gabino Barrera, Su Verdadera Historia\u201d y el drama de acci\u00f3n \u201cEl Bronco\u201d. Maribel gan\u00f3 reconocimiento en 1986, con su interpretaci\u00f3n del personaje principal Isabel Martinez en el thriller de terror \u201cTerror y Encaje Negro\u201d. Fue escrita y dirigida por Luis Alcoriza, tambi\u00e9n protagonizada por Gonzalo Vega y Claudio Obregon, y sigui\u00f3 las vidas de Isabel, una ama de casa, y su esposo abusivo. La pel\u00edcula gan\u00f3 uno de los tres premios para los que fue nominada. Algunas de estas incluyen el drama criminal de acci\u00f3n de 1991 \u201cMujer de Cabaret\u201d, la comedia de fantas\u00eda de 1991 \u201c\u00bfD\u00f3nde Qued\u00f3 el Colorado?\u201d y el thriller de acci\u00f3n y terror de 1993 \u201cEl Asesino del Zodiaco\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>El a\u00f1o 1999 la vio protagonizar el drama criminal \u201cReclusorio III\u201d, escrito y dirigido por Ismael Rodriguez, y que tambi\u00e9n cont\u00f3 con la actuaci\u00f3n de Alfredo Adame y Hilda Aguirre. Su siguiente papel lleg\u00f3 en 1994, cuando fue elegida para protagonizar a Cristina Carvajal y Florencia Rondan en el drama rom\u00e1ntico \u201cPrisionera de Amor\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A finales de los a\u00f1os 90, Maribel fue invitada a interpretar y dar voz a personajes principales en varias series que fueron \u00e9xitos en M\u00e9xico, como el melodrama rom\u00e1ntico \u201cTu y Yo\u201d, el melodrama de comedia \u201c\u00bfQu\u00e9 Nos Pasa?\u201d y el drama familiar animado \u201cSerafin\u201d (papel de voz).
