In het daaropvolgende jaar vergezelden ze de Britse popband One Direction op hun wereldtournee, wat de populariteit van de band een boost gaf en hen hielp om een publiek buiten Australi\u00eb te bereiken. Toen ze terugkeerden naar huis, waren alle kaartjes voor hun eigen nationale tournee binnen seconden uitverkocht. Op 23 oktober 2015 brachten ze hun tweede volledige album uit, getiteld \u201cSounds Good Feels Good\u201d, dat op nummer 1 in de VS debuteerde, waarmee ze de eerste band werden die hun eerste twee albums op de top van de Amerikaanse hitlijsten debuteerde.<\/p>\n<p>In de daaropvolgende jaren begon de band te experimenteren met hun geluid, en hun derde album, \u201cYoungblood\u201d, uitgebracht in juni 2018, kenmerkte zich door een volwassenere poprockstijl, met new wave invloeden. Met alle nieuwe vrije tijd greep Ashton de kans om aan zijn eerste soloalbum te werken, dat hij op 23 september 2020 aankondigde. Halsey is bevriend met de leden van 5SOS sinds 2011, waarbij veel fans speculeerden dat zij en Ashton ooit romantisch betrokken waren, maar de twee hebben gezegd dat ze nooit meer dan vrienden zijn geweest.<\/p>\n<p>Ashton lijkt momenteel te daten met de modeblogger, Kaitlin Blaisdell \u2013 ook bekend als KayKay.
