You surely remember Alisan Porter from her successful run in “The Voice”’s tenth season, or her time starring in the 1991 film “Curly Sue”. Whichever way you found out about her, there’s no denying how talented and charismatic she is.
Despite her artistic success, Alisan’s life hasn’t been easy. From her addiction issues to dealing with fame, to her recent divorce, Alisan has done her best to sort out the difficulties that have been coming her way for a long time, while also keeping her career alive by releasing music and acting in several Hollywood productions.

However, what exactly has Alisan Porter been doing since winning “The Voice” in 2016? What about her personal life and projects for the future? Keep with us to find out more concerning her whereabouts!
What Is She Doing Now?
Not only is Alisan Porter vastly talented, but hardworking too. Following her successful run in the tenth season of “The Voice,” she took a break from the spotlight to focus on herself and her family. This means that in 2017 and 2018, Alisan’s artistic endeavors were rare, and included only a handful of releases and a noticeable lack of public appearances, which was rare for a winner of a competition as famous as “The Voice”.
It wasn’t until 2019 that Alisan returned to music, with the release of her album “Pink Cloud”, which contained the single “Wild Out”. Alisan described its theme as ‘being unapologetically free to yourself’. Since then, Alisan has releasing music which goes from pop to country, portraying herself in feminine aesthetics while her music embodies emotional and personal themes.
Alison’s personal life has been quite busy since her “The Voice” victory. For a start, in 2021 she gave birth to her third child and the first she has welcomed with her second husband Justin De Vera, whom she married two years later. Her second marriage comes after divorcing in 2017 from Brian Autenrieth, who is also an actor.
You can keep up with Alisan’s whereabouts through her Instagram account and her YouTube channel, in which she shares updates about her music and upcoming shows.

Time In “The Voice”
Alisan Porter’s audition in “The Voice”’s tenth season is surely one of the most emotional ones ever featured in the show. Her rendition of “Blue Bayou” gained instant positive reactions from the mentors, but Alisan didn’t stop at demonstrating her talents in front of the whole world, and also shared the emotional reason behind her return to the spotlight.
As she recalled in her audition interview, Alisan started her career in entertainment at three years old, when she appeared in numerous TV advertisements and the unforgettable movies “Homesick”, “Parenthood” and more famously, “Curly Sue”, among several TV productions. She went on to work on Broadway musicals, but the environment was difficult to deal with, resulting in alcohol and drug addiction.
Just as Alisan confessed back then, she sought help before ‘it was too late’ and that’s how her path to recovery started. Later on, she married and welcomed two children, but despite the charms of being a stay-at-home mother, her musical talents fough hard to get out.
After choosing Christina Aguilera as her mentor throughout the competition, Alisan found herself on a safe bif somewhat difficult path to stardom. She eventually took the season’s winning spot, becoming the first –to do so under the guidance of a female coach.
After The Voice
Being in “The Voice” brought many great things to Alisan Porter’s career. For a start, her coronation song “Down That Road” made it into Billboard’s Hot 100 and Digital charts, which was memorable given that it was an original song. Other songs sung by Alisan during the competition – such as “Blue Bayou” and “Let Him Fly” – also found some success as digital and physical singles. These were included in the album “The Complete Season 10 Collection”, released in May 2016.

In 2017, Alisan released the single “Deep Water”, a country piece which was described by the media as ‘beautiful and heartfelt’. Later that year she released the single “Change” and the EP “I Come In Pieces”, which contained the aforementioned singles and three more songs, achieving moderate success. The “Revolution”, which included the EP’s harmonious song and “This Is Us”, was released in December 2017, and marked the beginning of Alisan’s break from the entertainment world for a couple of years.
Alisan returned to the music world in 2019, with the release of the singles “Never Could”, “One Like Water”, “Wild One” and “What If I Wake Up”, all of which were included in the album “Pink Cloud”, which enjoyed moderate success.
Personal Life
At the same time that Alisan Porter stayed away from the entertainment industry, her personal life was changing forever. Back in 2012, Alisan married Brian Autenrieth, a fellow actor and entrepreneur, and with him welcomed two children named Mason Blaise and Aria Sage Autenrieth, born in 2012 and 2014, respectively.
Unfortunately, Alisan and Brian separated in March 2017, though she didn’t announce it until December of that year through an X (then Twitter) post, in which Alisan affirmed that she and her former husband ‘remained close friends’ and were ‘doing (their) best’ for their children.
While Alisan’s divorce marked her two-year-long break from music, she didn’t go too deeply into the reasons she stepped away from her dream career. However, in 2024 she told People that her experience in “The Voice” led her to feel ‘safe’ enough to separate from her then-husband, though the marriage had already been ‘crumbling’ when she auditioned for the show.
In 2021, she welcomed a daughter named Shilo Bee with her then-boyfriend Justin de Vera, who is also her childhood friend and a dancer. Alisan and Justin tied the knot in a private ceremony in Las Vegas in April 2023.
New Projects
Since her return to music in 2019, Alisan Porter has been releasing music constantly throughout the years. Some of her most notable singles are “Silent Night”, “Meant For Me”, and “See In The Dark”, the latter is included on her EP “The Ride”, which achieved moderate success upon its release in June 2024.
Besides her original music and holding concert dates from time to time, Alisan is now based in Los Angeles, where she works as a vocal coach for “The Masked Singer” TV show, a fact that she revealed in an interview with Daily Collegian in 2024. She’s also focused on her family, and helping others to showcase their best selves through their music.
All in all, Alisan’s fame is moderate compared to other “The Voice” participants, but her career still appears to have been fulfilling so far.
