It wasn’t too long ago that Beau Dermott conquered the hearts of millions in “Britain’s Got Talent” – “BGT”. The then-12-year-old girl auditioned for the show’s 10th season in 2016 with lots of nerves and a hopeful spirit. Still, her beautiful voice and strange presence prevailed over all doubts, turning her into one of the most impressive and heartwarming acts in the show’s history.

Beau never expected her life to change overnight the way it did, as soon enough she was put under the spotlight and exposed to the media’s not-so-kind opinions. Despite not winning the competition, Beau’s talent shined for itself during her path in “Britain’s Got Talent”.
However, it was heartbreaking to see Beau stay away from the spotlight afterward, leading many people to wonder what happened to her and whether she was still interested in singing.
So what’s going on with Beau Dermott these days and where is her career heading? Keep with us to find out!
Where Is She Now?
From the moment Beau Dermott sang the first notes of “Wicked”’s “Defying Gravity” during her 2016 “Britain’s Got Talent” audition, everyone knew they were confronting a rarely seen talent. Her performance left a great impression on the judges and audiences, ensuring that Beau’s name and voice would be remembered for a long time, even if she didn’t become the season’s winner.
Actually, Beau isn’t a big fan of the spotlight. Despite the curiosity that she awakens even years after her TV run, Beau’s social media presence is quite scarce, consisting of rare updates once or twice a year. That also means that information about Beau’s career progression and whereabouts is hard to find, and also very vague.
That said, Beau’s occasional social media activity shows that she’s still doing what she loves the most. Her love for music can still be heard in the beautiful song renditions she’s shared on Instagram and TikTok videos, while her bio on said platforms states that she’s a musical theatre performer who nowadays works for the UK-based Mousetrap Theatre Company known as Go Live Theatre Projects. She also celebrated her 21st birthday in October 2024.
While Beau hasn’t released any music since her 2017 debut album “Brave”, and it’s unclear what plans she has for the future, it’s heartwarming to see that such a talented young woman is still working towards accomplishing her dreams.

Rise To Fame
Most people remember Beau Dermott from her successful run in “BGT’s” 10th season, but unbeknownst to many, that wasn’t her first time in the show. As it happened, Beau had participated in the previous season but didn’t pass the audition, reportedly getting ‘no’s fromall the judges. This episode has never been released, and it’s also known that Simon Cowell wasn’t present in said audition.
Luckily, the negative experience wasn’t enough to deter the young singer from pursuing her dreams. Beau auditioned for the second time in the show the following year, this time singing “Defying Gravity” from the musical “Wicked”, which had the audiences in an uproar and the judges in complete shock. Although judge Amanda Holden pointed out the song’s difficulty before the performance, Beau proved any doubting wrong with her vocal prowess, and overcoming her nerves, leaving Holden no choice but to send her directly to the semifinals with a Golden Buzzer.
Beau’s second Season 10 performance was of “Someone Like You”, taken from the “Hyde and Jekyll” musical. This powerful and heartwarming rendition sent her straight to the finals, where she delivered yet another beautiful “Defying Gravity” performance. She was placed in the competition’s top five, but that wasn’t the end of the road for her.
Controversy
Given Beau Dermott’s young age and terrific vocal talent, it’s surprising to know that her rise to fame awakened a controversy. It all started right after her “Britain’s Got Talent” Season 10 debut, when The Daily Star claimed that the show was fixed because Beau had received singing training beforehand.
According to the tabloid, Beau was enrolled in an arts and performance academy named StagePro, and had already participated in other talent shows, which allegedly, made fake the nerves that the then-12 year-old showed on the “BGT” stage. It didn’t take long for the show to hit back at the claims though, as a spokesperson admitted that Beau’s training didn’t reduce her ervousness, and didn’t disregard her talent. It’s also apparent that “BGT” doesn’t have any rules against people having received training before the show.
Later on, Beau’s parents spoke out about the claims against their daughter by qualifying them as ‘laughable’, as StagePro Academy was a small company and Beau only attended classes there once a month and when she felt like it. According to the Dermotts, Beau wasn’t trained rigorously, and enjoyed a normal childhood.
Another detail about Beau revealed by her parents is that she started receiving singing classes at eight years old, just one year after she saw “The Sound of Music” musical, and became completely mesmerized by it, which explains her favoritism for musical-sourced music during her “BGT” run.
Life After “Britain’s Got Talent”
Despite not winning the competition and the short-lived controversy born from her participation in “BGT”, the truth is that Beau Dermott’s TV fame resulted in many great things. For a start, just one week after her first appearance in the show, she was invited to meet the cast of the musical “Wicked”, which at the time was performing at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. Later in 2017, Beau was a guest performer at the 100th birthday celebration of Dame Vera Lynn, performing in front of Queen lizabeth II.
Another big step for Beau was beng signed to the British label Decca Records, which also prompted the company to insure Beau’s voice for $1.7 million. Under the label, Beau released her debut, and so far only album, entitled “Brave”, in September 2017.
Though Beau has been a guest performer in theater and concert hall events, one of the most important moments in her still-young career has been raising funds for Cancer Research. The organization’s mission hits very close to home for Beau, whose father Ian was diagnosed with cancer shortly before her “Britain’s Got Talent” final performance, though the family didn’t reveal the diagnosis until some time later. Sadly, Beau’s father passed away in 2018.
All in all, Beau Dermott still has a long way to go when it comes to her career, but there’s no denying that whatever path she chooses, her talent will surely continue to stand out.
