Who is Anders Holm?

American actor, comedian and film producer Anders Christian Holm was born in Evanston, Illinois USA, on 29 May 1981, meaning that his zodiac sign’s Gemini. He’s had roles in more than 50 movies and TV series, and is perhaps best known for playing Anders Holmvik in the comedy series “Workaholics”, which he created together with Blake Anderson and Adam Devine, and in which they all starred together. The series follows three roommates who are also working together as telemarketers, it aired from 2011 to 2017, and was nominated for seven awards.

Education and early life

Anders and his older brothers Olen and Erik were raised in Evanston by their parents, but Anders has kept the details regarding his family away from media, as they prefer to maintain their privacy; it’s still widely believed that his father was an accountant, and his mother a homemaker.

He studied at Evanston Township High School, and it was during his time there that his interest in acting and comedy was born, however, Andres’ parents urged him to pursue education first, and he chose to honor their wishes. He matriculated in 1999 and then enrolled at University of Wisconsin-Madison, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history in 2003; Anders was physically quite active while attending the university, and was a member of its swim team.

He moved to Los Angeles, California in the second half of 2003, and honed his acting skills at the Second City Conservatory.

Anders’ debut film appearance was his playing of several characters in the 2006 “Mail Order Comedy”, and the same year saw him appear in the short comedies “Bang Bus”, “Tales from an Alternate Universe”, and “Sausagefest”.

He only gained recognition in 2014, when cast to play Beer Pong Guy in the popular comedy “Neighbors”, which Nicholas Stoller directed, and which starred Zac Efron, Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen. It follows the parents of a newborn baby who’ve moved in next to a fraternity house, and the movie won seven of its 18 award nominations. Also in 2014, Andres played supporting characters in the romantic comedy “Top Five”, the action adventure comedy “The Interview” and the crime comedy “Inherent Vice”.

In 2015, he played Matt in the comedy “The Intern”, which Nancy Meyers wrote and directed, and which starred Rene Russo, Anne Hathaway and Robert de Niro. It follows 70 years old widower Ben Whittaker who’s become a senior intern at a fashion company which mostly operates online; the movie won one of its 10 award nominations.

Anders’ three most recent film roles have been in the action comedy “Game Over, Man!” and the  adventure crime comedy film “Show Dogs” both in 2018, and the 2020 short comedy “Coffee Shop Names”; he’s currently shooting for the upcoming movies “About My Father” and “At Midnight”.

Anders’ debut TV series role was his playing of the lead character Bruce Romaine in all 10 episodes of the short action comedy “Crossbows & Mustaches”, which also starred Adam Devine. and ran from 2006 ‘til 2008, and straight after which he appeared in three episodes of the short comedy “The Dude’s House”, and eight episodes of another short comedy “5th Year”.

The first half of the next decade saw Anders appear in an episode of several popular series, including the comedy “Traffic Light”, the action adventure comedy “Key and Peele” and the comedy “The One ‘N Done”. Then from 2013 through 2017, he played Casey Peerson in the hit comedy “The Mindy Project”, created by Mindy Kaling who also starred in it alongside Ike Barinholtz and Ed Weeks. It follows an obstetrician and gynecologist as she’s trying to balance her professional and personal life; the series won eight of its 35 award nominations.

Anders’ three most recent TV series roles have been in the 2020 episode “Ghandi Mulholland – Plastic Doesn’t Get Cancer” of the short animated adventure “Robot Chicken” (voice role), and in 2022 the episode “Will’s Story” of the comedy “True Story with Ed & Randall”, and nine episodes of the drama mini-series “Inventing Anna”.

He’s currently shooting for the upcoming series’ “The Muppets Mayhem” and “Untitled Apple/Godzilla and the Titans Project”.

Anders has 17 writing and 18 producing credits; he has perhaps attracted most attention with his writing of the 2012 comedy series “Workaholics: The Other Cubicle”, all the 86 episodes of the comedy series “Workaholics”, and the 2018 action comedy movie “Game Over, Man!”

He was also nominated for a 2014 Young Hollywood Award for Best Threesome, for his, Blake Anderson and Adam Devine’s performance in “Workaholics”, and a 2015 MTV Movie Award for Best WTF Moment, for “Top Five” (shared with Rosario Dawson).

Although Anders shies away from talking about his love life in public, he’s still shared that he’s today a married man, as well as a father of one.

He met non-celebrity American Emma Nesper while they were both attending college, and they married in a small ceremony in September 2011, attended by around 50 of their closest family members and friends. Emma gave birth to their son on 19 December 2013, but she and Anders are keeping him away from the media’s attention, and not even his name has been disclosed.

Anders hasn’t spoken about other women whom he’s been with, he’s married to Emma Nesper Holm as of December 2022, and they have a son together.

Interesting facts and hobbies

Anders enjoys being active on Instagram, and has built himself quite a fanbase on the social media network; there are more than 600,000 people following him today, and he’s posted over 600 pictures and videos, most of which have comedy content.

He’s physically highly active, and some of his Instagram pictures feature him completing marathons and triathlons – Anders is a huge fan of both running and cycling. He also likes to work out at the gym, and occasionally gives his fans advice about proper diet plans.

He enjoys drawing and painting in his spare time.

Anders’ favorite actors are the late Robin Williams, and Morgan Freeman, and some of his favorite movies are “The Angriest Man in Brooklyn”, “The Night Listener” and “RV”.
