Dave Kindig is considered a genius of automotive design and customization for many reasons. As the mastermind of Kindig-it Design and main star of the internationally famous “Bitchin’ Rides”, there’s no denying that Dave knows perfectly well what he’s doing when he takes the lead of every project, pushing the boundaries of what‘s known in the customization field, by turning cars into fine and powerful art pieces.

Having dedicated most of his life to his craft, Dave’s hard work has earned him more than admiration from fans and fellow automotive customizers. His business Kindig-it Design and his appearances on TV have turned Dave into a millionaire, but how luxurious is his lifestyle really?
Stay with us to learn more about Dave Kindig’s fortune, business, reality TV star career, family life, and other interesting bits about his well-deserved lifestyle.
Net Worth
After many decades in the car customization business and having achieved international success, it isn’t surprising that Dave Kindig does well in the money aspect. According to sources, Dave’s net worth as of 2025 is estimated as possibly as high as $6 million.
While neither Dave nor his family have ever come forward to tell us how much the business makes, it’s evident that Kindig-it Design does good business. It isn’t rare for the company to sell its creations for thousands of dollars at auction, meaning that there’s no lack of deep-pocketed people eagerly awaiting to purchase Dave’s jaw-dropping creations.
Besides the financial gain from his Kindig-it Design automotive creations, it’s worth noting that Dave also makes money from his TV show “Bitchin’ Rides” ,and clothing brand Kindig-it Apparel. Nevertheless, Dave rarely shows much about anything besides his craft on social media or in the show, leaving us with no option but to theorize what the lifestyle of such a creative genius as him really is.
Business
Kindig-it Design is the main reason we can talk about Dave Kindig’s work. The company was established long before Dave had any plans to appear on TV, back when the then-young designer worked on cars in his garage.
As Dave once commented to the site Fuel Curve, he ‘cashed out’ his $401k retirement plan just barely after his second child’s birth, to make Kindig-it Design a reality in 1999. He had the support of his wife Charity, an automotive fan herself, and who had always encouraged his dreams of taking his passion for illustrating and customizing cars to the next level.
Now as president and vice president, respectively, Dave and Charity have turned Kindig-it Design into more than just a customization shop. Maintaining its home in Salt Lake City, Utah, the company has a 27,000 sq ft facility meant for heavy work, and another of 10,000 sq ft for storage. There’s also a building which serves as a showroom for visitors.
Regarding his rise to fame, Dave has admitted that he negotiated with “Bitchin’ Rides” producers at Fischer Productions and MotorTrend to make it a show which wouldn’t d from his business’ reputation, nor disrupt the work done at his facilities. This was possible in the end, as “Bitchin’ Rides” has gained favor with automotive fans worldwide for keeping its essence in the cars and not on the drama for which reality TV is known.

How Many Cars Does He Have?
In an interview with Rides and Drives in 2023, Dave recounted some of the cars he keeps at home which are beloved by him or his family; these include a Maverick turbo 4-door, a Porsche Panamera Gran Turismo which he describes as his ‘snob rod’, and an S550 Mercedes which belongs to his wife Charity. He also counts a CF1 Corvette, two e-bikes, and a West Coast Chopper as some of the vehicles in his garage.
While it’s unclear how important these cars are for Dave emotionally, there are others which clearly hold an important place in his heart. Some of those are a 1957 Chevrolet Corvette and a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette, both of which belonged to his father. There’s also a 458 Ferrari, which he described as his ‘all-time favorite’ since he enjoys going fast.
When talking about the cars which form part of his life story, Dave mentions that the first time he was behind the wheel was of a Dodge Horizon his mother owned, which he crashed in a parking lot. The car he actually learned to drive in was a 1977 Toyota Celica GT, and the first he owned was a coupe version of the Celica that he bought for $600 and kept for two years.
How He Built Everything
Knowing that Kindig-it Design was born from the efforts of Dave and Charity Kindig, it’s very important to understand why the company puts family at the center of its operations.
In an interview with Rides and Drives in 2023, Dave commented that back when he set up the company, he had nothing but a set of chairs and a table in his garage. He took up a pen and designed his company’s logo, but there was no time to indulge in doubt back then, considering that he and his wife already had two kids, and had put his supposed retirement savings into making everything a reality.
He couldn’t just back off from his dream, and luckily for Dave and his family, Kindig-it Design grew so fast that only a couple of months later he had to move his operation to a commercial building. Eventually, it was also time for him to hire a secretary, to which Charity took it upon herself to work alongside him in the company, using her experience as a shop manager and love for cars to make everything work.
Now the Kindig family is deeply-involved in the business, including Dave and Charity’s daughter Baylee, who manages the company’s apparel line, and whose husband Kaden Cornett also works in the shop. The youngest son is Drew, who is in charge of the door handle magic at the shop.
All in all, there’s no denying that Dave Kindig has a great life doing what he loves, but the most important thing about it all is that he gets to share his dream and success with the people he loves the most.
