Car-fixing-centered YouTube channels are necessary and greatly appreciated by both experts and beginners. In the category, ChrisFix is one of the most successful because of his simple way of explaining how to fix things in one’s cars, and his knack for knowing exactly what content his audience wants to see, and the problems they want to fix.

ChrisFix’s undeniable talent at creating YouTube content has gained him his viewers’ appreciation, and the recognition of people in the automotive niche, being featured in essential platforms such as Hagerty and HotRods.com.
However, ChrisFix’s personal profile attitude has brought up many questions about him, including what’s going on in his private life, his finances, and the reason he always hides his face in a helmet.
So who is ChrisFix, and what’s going on with him? Stay with us to find out!
Who is ChrisFix?
ChrisFix is not your average car fixer, but one of the best. He’s found worldwide success and attracted millions of followers across all social media, ever since he started sharing YouTube helpful videos, fixing cars in his backyard.
Nowadays, ChrisFix owns the biggest car fixing channel in the world, but his massive fame is in huge contrast to the mystery surrounding his identity, as not only does he refrain from revealing much about his personal life to his audience but doesn’t show his face to them either.
ChrisFix’s content is very simple, often taking his audience through very thorough tutorials that everyone can follow. He doesn’t go out of his way to make his content eccentric or attention-catching, and instead focuses on keeping everything educational and do-it-yourself-ish, always making sure to maintain safety cautions up front in every video.
Real name Christopher Magello, Chris has also expanded his content to racing, and even launched a website which lists original merchandise and tool sets.
All in all, Chris has slowly but surely established a great online presence and business, demonstrating over and over again why his content is so loved by his audience.
According to online sources, ChrisFix’s net worth is estimated at $2.5 million, as of early 2025, the calculation based on his number of subscribers on YouTube, of over 10.5 million. He’s also followed by another million users on social media platforms.
Given ChrisFix’s massive fame and the reach his content has, it’s been estimated that he makes over $5,000 monthly from ads on his YouTube channel. However, it’s also notable that he earns money from his website and sponsorships on social media.
While not much is known about ChrisFix’s lifestyle away from the camera, his videos show bits of his garage and how it has improved as his channel grew. On Instagram and Facebook, Chris has also shared pics and videos about his travels and car racing adventures, making it clear that despite not bragging about his success, he’s enjoying the juicy results of being such a popular online star.
One notable aspect of ChrisFix is that he never shows his face on camera. While that didn’t seem out of normal in the early years of his channel, given that he was solely focused on filming what he does under his car’s hood, his appearance slowly became a topic of discussion, as he refused to ever show himself without a helmet in some videos and in in-person events, such as at SEMA – Specialty Equipment Market Association.
Despite the interest in his appearance, there’s nothing that ChisFix is hiding behind the helmet, as he affirmed in a 2022 interview with the podcast “The Iced Coffee Hour” According to him, he never considered ‘turning the camera around’ every time he filmed his videos, though as he slowly realized the interest that his mysterious identity awakened, he resolved to wear a helmet because he wanted to maintain focus not on his persona, but on the information he’s sharing in every video.
Although other YouTubers with similar levels of fame have had their identity revealed by fans or malicious followers, that’s not the case with ChrisFix. As he affirmed, his fans are ‘very respectable’ in the sense that they always ask for pictures and make sure to hide details about him, such as his license place, when they post said pics. As Chris reasoned, his audience is solely interested in the educational content he provides, and not in his personal life, and that speaks volumes about how much he’s appreciated by his fans.
Interestingly enough, ChrisFix’s career on YouTube didn’t start with him trying to become an online star. He started his channel in 2008, and used it to share videos of fishing, and hanging out with his friends.
Though those early videos can no longer be found on his channel, it’s not necessary to watch them to see the huge improvement that his channel has had over the years. His first car-related video was shared in January 2010, and was entitled “Corvette Sights and Sounds”, which had him driving his 1996 Torch Red C4 Corvette, and showing parts of his face as he drove it.
Later in 2022, Chris revealed in an interview with Corvette Forum that the red ‘Vette was second-hand and his first car ever. He used to drive to college and back, and as its parts started breaking down, he resolved to learn how to fix them himself ,because he wanted ‘the job done right’. Back when he was interviewed, Chris still owned the car, and affirmed that the Corvette community had been very supportive of him throughout his process.
These days, Chris no longer focuses on Corvettes, but on a wide variety of cars to fix. He also offers helpful tips for everything car-related, such as preventing one’s car’s door from getting stuck during the winter – it’s amazing to see how far he has come from those early days.
Far gone are the days when ChriFix’s YouTube channel was a niche place which a few people accessed on the internet to get good advice about fixing their cars. It’s not only the fact that he’s well over the 10 million subscribers mark that makes this evident, but also the fact that his content has wildly improved in quality.
Nonetheless, one thing about ChrisFix is that he keeps his videos true to the essence that set him apart from other channels in the first place. That also means that he’s humble, and always grateful for the appreciation of his fans, proudly admitting that he does all of it because of the comments he receives from people who save money after following his car-fixing tips.
While it’s unclear what’s in the future for ChrisFix, it’s for sure that not only will his channel keep growing for years, but also that the appreciation his subscribers have for him is well-deserved, and will be kept in place.
