In the long list of fantastic and wildly talented people who set foot on the stage of “America’s Got Talent” – “AGT” – the singer and ventriloquist is one of the most unforgettable. She was only 12 years old when she took the winning spot in the 12th season, and from then on, she’s harvested great amounts of fame and success.

Not everyone can say they’ve accomplished as much as Darci Lynne has. The young artist has not only been credited with reviving ventriloquism in the media, and for young audiences, but has also found success as a songwriter, singer, and, more recently, actress, proving that her talent goes beyond one form of art.
So what is Darci Lynne doing these days and what are the projects she’s been working on for 2025? Keep with us to find out!
Where Is She Now?
It’s been a while since we saw Darci Lynne rise to international stardom through “America’s Got Talent”. Nonetheless, things are widely different now compared to when she won the show’s 2017 season, starting with the fact that Darci Lynne has been exploring several creative routes beyond ventriloquism.
For a start, Darci has been cast in several roles since her acting debut in 2021, including a small character she played in the 2024 movie “Reagan”. However, these days, Darci is most actively making music, having released several singles since 2018. One of the most successful is “Push Our Luck”, the music video successful at the Los Angeles Film Awards in 2024.
That said, Darci hasn’t left her artistic roots behind, as she actively performs her ventriloquism acts around the US. In 2021 she embarked on the “My Lips Are Sealed (Except When They’re Not)!” tour, which would be followed by her “Darci Lynne and Friends” tour in early 2025.
Last but not least, Darci Lynne has also found massive success on YouTube, with her channel gaining over 1.2 million subscribers, and allowing Darci to share tidbits about her life and music, and videos of her ventriloquism acts.
Did She Ever Return To “America’s Got Talent”?
Most loyal “AGT” viewers remember Darci Lynne’s successful 12th season run in the show, yet most people don’t know that she returned to the show several times, both as a guest and contestant.
The first of Darci’s returns was as a guest performer in the 13th season, singing “Show Off” from the musical “The Drowsy Chaperone”. The next season we saw Darci bring back her puppets to the show, though this time with a heartfelt rendition of “It’s A Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World” by James Brown. She also returned as a guest performer in seasons 15, 16, and 17, the latter of which saw her performing alongside legendary ventriloquist Terry Fator.
In 2019, Darci Lynne returned to compete in the first season of the spin-off “The Champions” alongside other season winners. She made it to the finale in which she performed Barry Manilow’s “Can’t Smile Without You” and was second in the overall competition behind magician Shin Lim.
Later in 2024, Darci took part in the spin-off “Fantasy League” in Heidi Klum’s team. She performed Kiki Dee’s “I’ve Got The Music in Me” in the preliminary and passed then to perform “Push Our Luck”, her original song, in the semifinals. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it to the finals, but the experience allowed Darci to show the audience how far she’s progressede creatively.
What About Her Music?
Darci Lynne’s first music recording was “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” which she released in late 2018 and was recorded during her NBC TV Special “My Hometown Christmas Special,” during which Darci performed alongside her puppets and singers Kristin Chenoweth and Toby Keith.

In 2022, Darci released her original song “Just Breathe”, from the film “A Cowgirl’s Song” of which she was part of the main cast. Regarding this sudden artistic switch in her career, Darci told People that she started writing music during the COVID-19 quarantine, and had become ‘super passionate about it’, finding in songwriting and singing a way to show her talent as a solo artist and not only as a ventriloquist.
That said, in 2024 she explored her musical skills further by releasing three singles – “Push Our Luck”, “Someone Wake Me Up” and “Takes a Melody”, all co-written by Darci.
It’s noticeable that this new chapter in Darci’s career brings some insight into her romantic life. Just as she revealed in an interview with People in 2024, the then-19-year-old admitted to having had her ‘fair share of dates and boys’ already, and believing in love, taking these experiences as inspiration for her songs.
Acting Debut
While ventriloquism requires a certain amount of acting, Darci didn’t have any work as an actress until she appeared in the 2022 film “A Cowgirl’s Song”, in which she played the role of Brooke Mays, one of the main characters.
According to an interview with the site Beautiful Ballad, Darci had auditioned for the main role of Hailey, but given her young age, she was ultimately cast as Brooke, the protagonist’s younger sister. One of the most important aspects of the movie is its prominent musical side, collaborating with the song “Just Breathe”. She co-wrote and recorded the song alongside the roots rock duo The Imaginaries, taking inspiration from her character Brooke.
Before “A Cowgirl’s Song” premiere, Darci appeared in an episode of the Nickelodeon comedy “Side Hustle”, then later in 2024, in the biographical movie “Reagan”, based on the life of the US 40th President Ronald Reagan.
Although Darci’s role in the movie as one of the drowning girls who often faked being in trouble to attract the attention of the then-young lifeguard Reagan was small, the experience served her right. As she told The Oklahoman, the role hadn’t been troubling at all, yet it had felt surreal to be on the big screen and experience the thrill of taking part in a Hollywood production.
All in all, Darci is giving her best to not only explore her creative interests beyond ventriloquism, but also in making herself known to bigger and wider audiences. Though it’s unclear what other acting and music projects she has in mind, there’s no doubt that her talent will keep her in the spotlight for a long time.
