Who is Estella Warren?

Canadian former synchronized swimmer, actress and model Estella Dawn Warren, was born in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, on 23 December 1978, making her zodiac sign Capricorn. She’s probably best known for having been a member of the Canadian national swimming team, and for having won three national titles. Since 1994, Estella’s been focused on her modelling and acting career.

Education and early life

Estella was raised alongside her two older sisters in Peterborough, by their father Don Warren who was a used-car seller, and their mother Esther who was a headmistress as a local elementary school.

Estella grew up being interested in swimming, and was six when she began taking lessons at a local indoor swimming pool. When she was 11, the family moved to Toronto so that she could train with Canada’s national team; she was 16 when she became the senior national champion, and thus made herself eligible to compete in the 1996 Summer Olympics. Estella had previously won bronze at the 1995 Junior World Championships.

She studied at a local high school in Toronto, and upon matriculating in 1997 enrolled at Etobicoke Olympium, but Estella quit after only a year.

Modelling career

In 1994, Estella was spotted by Rhonda Broadbelt Fonte, the owner of the modelling agency Broadbelt & Fonte Models. She was then introduced to the owner of American Models, George Gallier, who brought Estella to New York City for her first photoshoot; as soon as she arrived there, Estella was introduced to fashion photographer Ellen Von Unwerth, and was featured in the popular magazine “Italian Vogue”.

Estella became a sought after model following her posing for the campaign ‘Eau d’Eden’ by the French clothing and perfume company Cacharel, and was then invited to pose for Chanel No. 5.

She could since have been seen featured on the cover page of many magazines, including “Cosmopolitan”, “Elle” and “Vanity Fair”, and in 2000, the magazine “Maxim” ranked her #1 on their ‘Hot 100 List’, and in 2006, the magazine “FHM” ranked Estelle #52 on their list ‘100 Sexiest Women in the World’.

The year 2003 saw her play Charlene in the romantic drama “The Cooler”, written and directed by Wayne Kramer, and which starred William H. Macy, Maria Bello and Alec Baldwin. It follows a professional gambler who’s fallen in love, and the movie won nine of its 36 award nominations, including an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Alec Baldwin). Some of Estella’s other notable performances in the 2000s were in the 2006 sports comedy “Pucked”, the 2007 crime mystery “Lies and Crimes”, and the 2009 thriller “Blue Seduction”.

The year 2013 saw Estella play Emily in the thriller “Stranger Within”, written and directed by Adam Neutsky-Wulff, and in which she starred alongside William Baldwin and Sarah Butler; it follows an actress and her psychiatrist husband who’ve gone on a vacation, and on their first night there have met a young girl with bloody hands.

Estella’s three most recent film roles have been in the 2017 drama “Just Within Reach”, the adventure horror “The Beginning: Feel the Dead” and the romantic comedy “Undateable John” both in 2019.

Estella’s debut TV series role was her playing of Raquel in the 2003 episode “The Kids Are Alright” of the romantic comedy “That ‘70s Show”, and the year 2005 saw her appear in an episode of three series: the crime mystery “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”, another crime mystery “Law & Order”, and the fantasy drama “Ghost Whisperer”.

In 2009, Estella played Niobe Graham in the 2009 episode “Book of Judges” of the drama “Mental”, created by Dan Levine and Deborah Joy LeVine, and which starred Chris Vance, Jacqueline McKenzie and Marisa Ramirez. Although Estella avoids talking about her love life in public, there are still five men whom she’s been with, that her fans know about. She dated American actor Michael Burns in 1999 and 2000, and was in 2000 and 2001 in a relationship with Paul Thomas Anderson, a famous American moviemaker; it’s believed that Estella dated famous American actor Bruce Willis in 2002, but this remains unconfirmed.

She then went on a couple of dates with both American actor and model Kip Pardue and American actor Jerry O’Connell in 2002, and from 2002 to 2006, Estella was in a relationship with American movie director Peter Berg, who’s probably known best for his 1998 black comedy movie “Very Bad Things”.

Estella hasn’t spoken about her other dates, and seems to be single as of December 2022, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Hobbies and interesting facts

Estella’s been arrested on multiple occasions. On 24 May 2011, she was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) in Los Angeles after having hit three cars with her Toyota Prius and fleeing the scene; she also kicked a police officer and didn’t want to be handcuffed. Estella managed to slip from her cuffs at the station and ran away, but was caught by a police officer in less than a minute; she was charged with resisting a police officer, battery of a police officer, hit-and-run and DUI. All charges but DUI were dropped, and she was ordered to spend four months at a rehabilitation facility.

She was arrested again in 2017, this time for assaulting her boyfriend

Estella’s Instagram account’s followed by more than 30,000 people and she’s posted close to 50 pictures and videos, with most of her newer pictures featuring her and her son spending time together.

She’s still physically quite active and works out at the gym multiple times a week.

Estella’s favorite actresses are Emma Watson and Amanda Seyfried, and her favorite movies are “Colonia”, “The Circle” and “Ballet Shoes”.
