Josie is an American actress, perhaps known best for her role as Jane Mancini on the popular soap opera “Melrose Place”, which aired from 1992 to 1999. She began her career as a model before transitioning to acting, and has appeared in a number of television shows and movies, including “The Hogan Family”, “Tales from the Crypt”, and “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”. Early life and career

Jolynn Christine Heutmaker was born on 5 October 1970 in Seattle, Washington. At the age of 12, Josie started appearing in TV commercials, kickstarting her acting career, continuing to appear in commercials In the following years, and modeling for magazines.

When she was 16 years old, Jodie moved to Japan hoping to advance her career, but a year later, she returned to Los Angeles, California, set on becoming a Hollywood actress. At the beginning of her career, Josie adopted her mother’s maiden name as her stage name, because her original surname, Heutmaker, was deemed too difficult to pronounce.

Movies and TV shows

Josie made her film debut playing one of the lead roles in the 1989 horror thriller “Hitcher in the Dark”, written and directed by Umberto Lenzi, then in the following year, she landed the role of Cara Eisenberg in the popular NBC sitcom “The Hogan Family”.

One of her first major film roles was in the biographical drama “The Doors” (1991), directed by Oliver Stone, in which she played the girlfriend of the band’s guitarist, Robby Krieger.

In 1992, she guest-starred in an episode of the horror anthology series “Tales from the Crypt”, and in the same year she joined the prime-time soap opera “Melrose Place” as the fashion designer Jane Andrews-Mancini; she remained in the show for close to six seasons, before pulling out for health-related reasons.

From 1995 through 2009, Josie hosted her own TV show “Parenting & Beyond”, offering creative solutions for everyday problems parents may run into. She concurrently hosted several other shows, including “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” from 1997 to 2001, and was a semi-regular guest on Hallmark Channel’s “Home & Family”.

Another major TV role for Josie came in 2008, when she joined the cast of the family drama series “The Secret Life of an American Teenager”. The series’ main focus was the 15-year-old Amy, played by Shailene Woodley, who has her whole life uprooted by teenage pregnancy. In the series, Josie played the role of Kathleen Bowman in a recurring role during the show’s five-season run to 2013.

Since then, Josie has primarily been appearing in movies, such as “Paper Angels” (2014), “Mother’s Instinct” (2015), and “Battle for Incheon: Operation Chromite” (2016). Also in 2016, she starred in the made-for-TV romantic comedy film “The Wedding March”, and has reprised her role in all five of the film’s sequels, with the last movie coming out in 2021.

Jodie’s first book, “Little Bits of Wisdom” was published in 2001 – inspired by the birth of her first child, the book is a collection of various tips about parenting, collected from parents from all over the world. The follow-up came two years later, entitled “Making Memories: A Parent’s Guide to Making Childhood”.

Josie published her first children’s book, entitled “Tickle Monster” in 2008, and it quickly became a national sensation. Illustrated by Kevin Atteberry, the book is fully interactive and comes with a pair of gloves for parents to tickle their kids with while reading along. Fifteen years later, Josie’s literary debut is still a bestseller, on its way to becoming a children’s classic. “Tickle Monster” earned a number of awards, including the 2008 Publisher’s Choice for the best children’s book, while Josie was named the Celebrity Mom of the Year by the Mom’s Choice Awards.

In 2011, Josie published her second book – “Boogie Monster” – which aims to inspire kids to dance. Similarly to “Tickle Monster”, Jodie’s second book also became a smash hit and earned her a second Mom’s Choice Award.

Josie Bissett is married to Rob Estes, an American actor known for his roles in TV series such as “Days of Our Loves”. The couple met on the set of “Melrose Place” in 1992, began dating soon after, and married on 28 May that year in a private ceremony.

Rob Estes is best known for his roles on television. He began his career in the late 1980s, and has appeared in a number of popular TV shows and movies throughout the years, including “Silk Stalkings”, “90210”, and “Days of Our Lives”. Estes has received critical acclaim, and been nominated for several awards, including Daytime Emmys. In addition to acting, Rob Estes is also an executive producer and director of TV shows, and is a voice actor for animated projects.

Josie Bissett and Rob Estes have two children together, a son named Mason True, and daughter Maya Rose, born in 1995 and 1997 respectively. They’ve also been raising Rob’s daughter Tess from his first marriage.
