Who is Max Charles?

Max Joseph Charles was born in Dayton, Ohio USA, on 18 August 2003 – his zodiac sign is Leo, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor and a musician, with around 45 acting credits to his name, while he’s perhaps known best for having voiced the lead character Sherman, in the animated adventure comedy movie “Mr. Peabody & Sherman”. It was written by six people, directed by Rob Minkoff, and also starred Ty Burrell and Stephen Colbert. The film follows an intelligent dog and his adopted son, as they travel through time, trying to fix a time rift created by them. It won two of the 18 awards for which it was nominated.

Early life, parents and education

Max was raised alongside his three brothers in Dayton, by their mother Anne Carver who’s a philanthropist and an activist, and their father Robert Martensen who’s a doctor and an author.

In 2010, when he was seven years old, one of his brothers was invited to attend an audition for a role in the mystery crime series “True Blood”, and Max decided to keep him company. The producers then asked Max to audition as well, and he won the role to portray Hunter in the episode “Everything Is Broken”. The same year then saw him appear in an episode of the family comedy series “Raising Hope”, and he make his debut film appearance with his portrayal of Gordon Marks, in the drama “November Christmas”.

Max has been focused on acting since the launch of his career, but has also been doing quite well at school. He should be matriculating from a local high school later this year of 2021; it seems that he won’t be pursuing a college degree, but is most likely to focus on acting.

Roles in TV series

The early 2010s saw Max play supporting characters in single episodes of various series, such as the critically acclaimed comedy “Community”, the hit comedy “Hot in Cleveland”, and the family comedy “Jessie”.

He gained recognition in 2012, when cast to play Max Weaver, one of the main characters in the romantic family comedy “The Neighbors”. It was created by Dan Fogelman, also starred Jami Gertz and Lenny Venito, and follows a New Jersey family who have moved to a community comprised solely of extraterrestrial beings. The series won two of the eight awards for which it was nominated, including a Primetime Emmy nomination.

Max was then invited to voice Skeptical Spirit in the episode “Korra Alone” of the animated action adventure “The Legend of Korra”. From 2015 to 2017, he starred as Zach Goodweather, in the fantasy horror drama “The Strain”, created by Guillermo del Toro, and which also starred Corey Stoll and David Bradley. Max also starred as Harvey Beaks, in the eponymous short animated series, and voiced various characters in 10 episodes of the animated comedy “Family Guy”.

Three of his most recent roles in TV series have been in six episodes of the animated comedy “American Dad!” (voice role), 74 episodes of the animated action adventure “The Lion Guard” (lead voice role), and the 2019 episode “Murder Rate Mission” of the drama “These Streets Don’t Love You Like I Do!”

Roles in movies

Max appeared in several mediocre movies in the early 2010s, such as the family fantasy “Spooky Buddies” and the comedy “My Life As an Experiment” both in 2011, and the 2012 crime mystery “Unstable”.

He gained recognition in 2012, when cast to play Peezer in the family comedy “The Three Stooges”, written and directed by Bobby Farrelly, and which starred Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamantopoulos. The movie follows three adult friends who have discovered a murder plot, and have found themselves starring in a reality TV show. It was nominated for four awards. The same year saw Max play Peter Parker (Age 4), in the hit action fantasy adventure “The Amazing Spider-Man”, which won two of the 33 awards for which it was nominated. Perhaps the most popular movie in which Max has appeared, was the 2014 biographical action drama “American Sniper”, directed by Clint Eastwood, and which starred Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller.

It follows the life of Chris Kyle, a Navy S. E. A. L. sniper, whose skills have saved and taken many lives, but have also made it impossible for him to lead a normal life. It won 24 awards including an Oscar, while it was nominated for 43 other awards.

In 2016, Max voiced Bobby Bird in the animated action adventure “The Angry Birds Movie”, and the following year heard him voice Buddy G., in the animated family comedy “Scooby-Doo! Shaggy’s Showdown”.

Three of Max’s most recent movie roles have been in 2020 in the musical horror thriller “London’s Musical Nightmare” and the short drama “Ali’s Realm”, and the 2021 animated adventure comedy “Wish Dragon” (voice role).

Max has won only a single award: a 2013 Young Artist Award for Outstanding Young Ensemble in a TV Series, for his and his colleagues’ performance in “The Neighbors”.

He has been nominated for nine other awards, including two Young Artist Awards, four Behind the Voice Actors Awards, and three Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films Saturn Awards.

Love life and girlfriend

Max is quite secretive when it comes to his love life, and hasn’t spoken of any girls (or boys) whom he has perhaps been with.

This is mostly why there are rumors circulating the internet concerning both his sexual orientation, and current relationship status.

Some of his fans believe him to be gay, because Max hasn’t often been seen spending time with girls, and hasn’t apparently dated any. A fan has noted that Max can often be seen in the company of boys, and that one of these could perhaps be his boyfriend, however, this hasn’t been confirmed, nor has Max commented on this.

There are also those who think that he’s today in a relationship with a non-celebrity girl, but prefers to keep her away from the media’s attention. This hasn’t been confirmed either.

Hobbies and other interests

Max is highly religious, and goes to church at least once a week.

He’s interested in music and can play the drums, while he’s hoping that he’ll eventually become the drummer of a popular band.

Max loves to travel, and has been to various US states for both work and pleasure. He likes to go on road trips with his family.
