Early Years and Family

Christina Carol Dunn was born on 16 October 1984, in Pensacola, Florida, USA. It was her grandparents taking care of her when a tragic incident happened in her life at the age of one. Due to the sensitivity of the story, the real names surrounding the incident were withheld by Christina, only referring to her mother as Betty and her mother’s boyfriend as John.

Kidnapped and Tortured

Her mother Betty was a stripper, who fell in love with a drug dealer named John who’d come to town to deliver drugs to strip clubs. Betty didn’t have custody of Christina at that time due to the choices that she made in life. One day, her mother visited Christina and told the people who were taking care of her that she would bring her to see her grandfather. However, Betty kidnapped her own daughter and left the country, ending up in Mexico to live with John.

John’s was a violent man who didn’t like Christina. After being kidnapped, she was locked inside a small bathroom and tortured whenever John felt like it. One time, he took her out of the bathroom and burned her hand on the stove. Another time, she was placed in the tub filled with scalding hot water. She was also made to eat her own feces. There’s even a time he’d take her by her feet and hung her upside down, putting her head in the toilet while flushing it. Christina was even forced by John to kneel down with her hands at the back of her head and watch him and Betty have sex. It didn’t help that John’s own sons bullied her, and eventually the bathroom became her safe haven as it’s locked by John each time he leaves.

The Day She Was Saved

Two years had passed, and John and Betty were back in the US delivering drugs. They took Christina along, and when they were in Louisiana, John erupted in another violent episode, kicking her relentlessly. She backed up into the wall, but he never stopped kicking her at the back of her head. Christina vividly remembers that there’s so much blood in the bathroom. Betty came screaming and picked her up. Her mother rushed her to hospital, but sneaked out when everyone was busy attending to her injured daughter.

The back of Christina’s head was split open, requiring stitches, evident that she was a victim of abuse. The police were called, but no one knew her identity, so she entered into the foster care system until her identity was confirmed. Her grandmother took her mother to court, and won the case for custody. That was the last time Christina saw her mother, who’s now on the run from authorities.

In and Out of Juvenile Detention

Despite the care she received from her grandmother, Carolyn, Christina led a troublesome life that began at the age of 12. She’s an angry and mean child, engaging in fights, underage drinking, and driving under the influence. The first incident that led to her being locked up in the juvenile detention center was when she pushed someone. Although the other girl wasn’t bruised, Christina’s extensive list of misdemeanors influenced the complaint against her, resulting in the judge sending her to the center. After her release, she persisted in her unhealthy lifestyle, continuing to fight and engage in drinking. Numerous incidents prompted people to call the police, leading to Christina going back and forth, spending more time in juvenile detention.

Education

Christina attended local schools for her primary and secondary education. Later, she pursued higher education at Polk State College in Lakeland, Florida, where she worked towards earning a degree in social work.

Her Prison Journey

Violation of Probation and Work Release Center

After violating her two-year probation with a driving offense just a month before completion, Christina found herself facing a court judge once again. Instead of restarting the probation, she asked if she may be allowed to do an alternative path to redemption. The judge sent her to spend time in a work-release center; this allowed her to maintain her day job but required her to reside in the center and report back after work to avoid an escape charge. The challenging living conditions eventually became unbearable, leading Christina to escape.

Unforeseen Confrontation and Arrest

Christina’s attempt to evade the law took an unexpected turn during the celebration of a friend’s birthday. While defending her friend from a confrontation at a convenience store, Christina became involved in a scuffle. Armed with a bottle of an alcoholic beverage, she came swinging at the two girls. During the physical altercation, she unintentionally grabbed the money that’s pinned onto one of the girls’ clothes. They asked for their money back but Christina, who was quite mad, told them to get it from her.  Unaware that the police had been called by the girls, she and her friends proceeded to a bar to celebrate, but were promptly arrested shortly after entering the venue.

Facing Serious Charges and Plea Deal

The legal consequences escalated for Christina, as she found herself facing charges for robbery, double battery, and escape from the work-release center. Presented with options by her public defender, Christina, considering her previous records, was advised to accept a three-year plea deal instead of contesting each charge separately.

At the age of 21, Christina began her sentence as an inmate at a Florida state prison.

Life Inside the Prison

In the first 17 months of her prison stay, Christina admitted to continuing her previous troublesome behavior. She schemed and scammed to make her life easier inside. Her life took an unexpected turn when she was selected to attend a three-day Church service hosted by Kairos Prison Ministry International. Initially reluctant and surprised by the high demand for invitations, she attended with skepticism about the organizers’ motives, given her lack of religious inclinations. However, during the event, she found herself uncontrollably crying while people were singing praise and worship songs.

She learned about the power of faith, and it became a catalyst for a significant shift in her perspective. Witnesses claimed she emerged from the event as a different person. Christina delved into the Bible and discovered a verse from the Book of Ezekiel that resonated with her experience: ‘I will give you a new heart, I will put in you a new spirit. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart.’

Life after Prison

Christina was released from prison in May 2008, and contrary to expectations, she didn’t return to her old ways. To avoid her old crowd, she informed her grandmother that she’d stay in a shelter. Initially, she worked part-time at Wendy’s and full-time for a private corporation while simultaneously pursuing college studies. Christina also dedicated time to missionary work for her church.

Social Media Presence

In 2016, she launched a self-titled YouTube channel, uploading videos about her life before and after prison. Her page garnered over 1.5 million subscribers, with the 500 videos accumulating more than 230 million views. Her Facebook account, with about 3.5 million followers, became a platform for promoting her true crime storytelling pages, in which she uploaded teasers and shared opinions on trending or controversial stories.

While her other social media accounts flourished with millions of followers, her Instagram account has approximately close to 200,000 followers, opting to use this platform to provide glimpses of her personal life, sharing family vacations, holiday celebrations, reunions, and new endeavors.

Personal Life

Christina is married to Jeremy Randall, whom she met back in high school. She had a huge crush on him, but they only shared one long stare while walking in the school hallways, and nothing came of it. She didn’t know that at that time, he also had a crush on her.

In the latter part of 2009, she received a friendly request from him on MySpace, a popular social media app back then. She accepted it, but never interacted with him, not because she didn’t like him, but because she had a secret that she thought would make him hate her if discovered. Apparently, there’s a time when she had a fight with girls during a night out with friends. Christina was quite drunk, and when the girls tried to leave the scene in a car, she jumped into her car and proceeded to hit their car twice, totaling the front of the car. Later, she found out that a baby was inside the car, and it was Jeremy Randall’s baby, as one of the girls she fought with was his ex-girlfriend.

Jeremy pursued her, and two weeks after their initial conversation, Christina couldn’t take it anymore and told him about her secret. She’s shocked when he said that he knew it was her. While he was also mad at that time, he’s more concerned about why his baby’s out on the street in the evening.

Eventually they started to date, lived together, and had a son. After being together for many years, he proposed, and they had a beach wedding.
