Kerris Dorsey is an upcoming American singer and actress, probably best known for portraying Paige Whedon in the ABC’s television series ”Brothers And Sisters”, Casey Beane in the biographical drama ”Moneyball”, and for playing Emily Cooper in the comedy ”Alexander and the Terrible Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”. The 23-year-old has a lot of work under her belt, but her future seems to hold rather bigger things.

Early life, family, educational background

Kerris Lilla Dorsey was born on 9 January 1998, in Los Angeles, California USA. Her mother’s identity is not publicly known, but her father John Dorsey is well known as an entrepreneur.

John is the founder and the owner of Lilla Rose – a company that provides various types of hair accessories, and was named by his daughters’ middle names – Kerris has an older sister who’s name is Justine Rose Dorsey. Kerris is of Caucasian ethnicity and Irish descent. She and her sister grew up in a Christian environment, and were most likely home-schooled before enrolling in high school. The exact high school she attended isn’t known, but she matriculated in 2016.  There’s no record of her attending a university.

As a young child, Kerris showed great talent for acting and in music, she also did gymnastics for a while.

Kerris’s acting career started when she was seven years old in 2005 when she had several minor roles. The first was playing Kathy Cash, the daughter of the legendary Johnny Cash, played by Joaquin Phoenix, in the biographical drama about his life “Walk The Line”. She also played Zoe, the daughter of Elizabeth who was portrayed by Reese Witherspoon, in the romantic comedy “Just Like Heaven”. In the same year, Kerris appeared as Joey in the TV movie “Soccer Moms”.

Throughout the 2000s and early 2010s Kerris continued with minor roles in television shows such as “Monk”, “Scrubs”, “Mad Men”, and  “Sons of Anarchy”. Kerris had a breakout moment in her career in 2006, when she was cast for the recurring role of Paige Whedon in ABC TV’s drama show “Brothers and Sisters”, appearing in 91 episodes of the series.

Like many child actors, Kerris has had a chance to work with Disney Channel, and appeared in several projects. She played the character of Sadie in the Disney Channel’s “Girl vs. Monster”, and later made a guest appearance in “Shake It Up”. Perhaps her most prominent role from this period was that of Emily Cooper in the comedy “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”.

This was a significant project for her, because the director Miguel Arteta, who knew about her musical talent, asked if she wanted to write a song for the ending of the film. She gladly accepted and co-wrote the song with her sister, entitled “Best Worst Day Ever”.

Kerris also has a singing performance in the movie biographical drama “Moneyball”, about Oakland A’s manager Billy Beane who came out in 2011. Billy was played by Brad Pitt and Kerris plays his daughter, Casey. There is a scene in which Casey plays the guitar and sings a cover of Lenka’s song “The Snow”. By many critics, it was described as the best scene in the film; her cover of the song is also included on the official soundtrack of the movie.

The Young Artist awards for the Best Performance in a Feature Film has nominated Kerrsi and colleagues for the Young Ensemble Cast Award category for ”Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day“ in 2015.

In recent years Kerris has made numerous guest appearances on television, and in short movies such as ”Dear Chickens” and ”End of the Line”. However, her most prominent role has been the character of Bridget Donovan, the daughter of Ray Donovan in the self-titled TV crime and drama show which aired on Showtime.

Kerris is not satisfied with having a career in acting alone, and is planning on pursuing a music career as well.

She launched a YouTube channel in December 2012, and has since posted several videos of herself making covers of her favorite songs. Kerris is planning on releasing an EP soon.

Being in the spotlight since she was a young girl has led Kerris to be pretty conservative with the amount of information she puts out to the world regarding her personal life. Kerris’s only official relationship that the public knows about was with fellow actor Dylan Minnette. He is an American singer, musician, and actor who is best known for his role in the Netflix teen drama series ”13 Reasons Why” as Clay Jensen.

According to information from various online sources, it’s known that the two of them first met during the filming of the movie ”Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”. The two were together from 2014 up until 2018, when they broke up for unknown reasons. There is no information about any possible relationships she might have had since then.
