Who is Natalia Tena?
Natalia Gastiain Tena was born in London, England, on 1 November 1984 – her zodiac sign is Scorpio, she holds British nationality, and is of Spanish descent. She’s an actress and a musician, who’s probably known best for her portrayal of Nymphadora Tonks in the family fantasy science fiction film franchise “Harry Potter”, as well as for her portrayal of Osha in the critically acclaimed action adventure series “Game of Thrones”, created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, and which starred Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington and Peter Dinklage. It follows nine noble families fighting to control the lands of Westeros; the series aired from 2011 to 2019 and won 377 awards including a Golden Globe, while it was nominated for 613 other awards.
“Game of Thrones” is rated one of the 20 best series of all time.
Early life and education
Natalia was raised in London by her Spanish parents Jesus Andrew Gastiain who was a carpenter, and Maria Tena who was a secretary. As she hasn’t spoken about having any siblings, Natalia’s believed to be an only child.
She was five years old when her mother began teaching her to play the piano, because Natalia was a huge fan of Charles ‘Chuck’ Berry, the late American singer-songwriter. Natalia became interested in acting while attending the boarding school Bedales in Hampshire, England, and upon matriculating in 2002, she moved back to London, chose not to pursue a college degree, and launched her acting career.
Natalia has also learned to play the accordion.
Roles in movies
She made her debut film appearance with her portrayal of Ellie in the2002 hit romantic comedy “About a Boy”, which starred Hugh Grant, Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette, and follows an immature man who’s being taught about life by a little boy. The film won 11 awards of the 41 for which it was nominated, including an Oscar nomination.
Natalia then played supporting characters in several rather mediocre movies, including the 2004 drama “Delusions of Grandeur”, and the 2005 mystery drama “The Fine Art of Love: Mine Ha-Ha”. Then the year 2005 also saw her appear in the popular musical comedy “Mrs. Henderson Presents”, which won seven of the 40 awards for which it was nominated, including two Oscars. In 2010, she was cast to play Rose in the romantic science fiction drama “Womb”, written and directed by Benedek Fliegauf and which starred Eva Green, Matt Smith and Lesley Manville.
The movie follows a woman raising a clone of her dead husband, and it won one of the two awards for which it was nominated. Natalia was then invited to appear in several popular movies, such as the 2011 musical comedy “Tonight You’re Mine”, the 2012 historical crime drama “Bel Ami”, and the 2014 romantic comedy “10.000 Km”. In 2020, she starred as Gabriela alongside Quim Gutierrez and Alfonso Bassave in the comedy “Te Queiro, Imbecil”, written by Abraham Sastre and Ivan Bouso, directed by Laura Mana, and which follows the life of Marcos, who has lost his job and his girlfriend on the same day.
Natalia’s most recent film role has been her portrayal of Albinoa in the 2020 horror thriller drama “Baby”, which failed to attract any attention, except for receiving mixed reviews.
Roles in TV series
She made her debut TV series appearance in the 2004 mystery crime mini-series “The Murder Room”, and the following years saw her appear in an episode of various series, such as the drama “Doctors”, the mystery horror drama “Afterlife”, and the historical action “Battleground: The Art of War”.
She gained recognition in 2012 after being cast to play Cristina Ferrera in the crime mini-series “Falcon”, then in 2013 she starred as Tanya in the comedy mini-series “Ambassadors”, which also starred David Mitchell and Robert Webb, and follows the life of a British ambassador to a made-up Asian country Tajbekistan. Natalia also starred as Jennifer Preston in the 2015 mystery horror mini-series “Residue”, and she then played the main character Emma in the thriller “The Refugees”, which follows three million people who have come from the future to escape a global disaster.
The year 2017 saw her portray Sara Morton in the crime thriller drama “Wisdom of the Crowd”, and in 2018 she played Lana Pierce, the main character all 10 episodes of the science fiction horror “Origin”, which also starred Tom Felton and Sen Mitsuji, and follows the people aboard a spaceship trying to survive until they reach a distant planet. In 2019, Natalia guest starred as Xi’an in the episode “Chapter 6: The Prisoner” of the critically acclaimed action science fiction adventure “The Mandalorian”.
She’s currently shooting for the upcoming series “Wolfe”.
Natalia wrote additional dialogue for the 2014 movie “10.000 Km”.
She sang the song “Dirty Pink” in the 2011 movie “Tonight You’re Mine”, and the song “Yo Vendo Unos Ojos Negros” in the 2017 movie “Anchor and Hope”.
She has been featured in a number of documentaries, such as the 2007 movie “The Hidden Secrets of Harry Potter”, the 2009 video “Creating the World of Harry Potter, Part 2: Characters”, and the 2020 mini-series “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian”.

Natalia has been nominated for 13 awards winning six. In 2005, she and her colleagues won a National Board of Review Award for Best Acting by an Ensemble for the movie “Mrs Henderson Presents”, and in 2014 she won a SXSW Film Festival Special Jury Award for Narrative Feature and a Málaga Spanish Film Festival Silver Biznaga for Best Actress, both for the movie “10,000 Km”.
In 2015, she won a Días de Cine Award for Best Actress in Spanish Language, and a Gaudi Award for Best Female Lead (Millor Protagonista Femenina) both for “10,000 Km”, and Natalia also won a 2015 FilmQuest Cthulhu Award for Best Actress for the movie “SuperBob”.
Love life and relationships
Natalia’s very secretive when it comes to her love life, and hasn’t shared the details of any men whom she has perhaps been with, however, it’s known that she was once in a relationship with Sam Apley, a musician known best for being a member of the band Molotov Jukebox. When they met, Natalia was a member of the band Nat Jenkins, and because she wanted to be closer to Sam as well as because she liked his band, she joined Molotov Jukebox.
They have attracted some attention, while their music video “Molotov Jukebox – I Need It [OFFICIAL VIDEO]” has been viewed over one million times on YouTube.
Natalia and Sam split after around two years of being together, and while she hasn’t mentioned any other relationships she has perhaps been in, there are rumors circulating the internet that Natalia might be seeing a mysterious non-celebrity man today, but this hasn’t been confirmed.
As of April 2021, she seems to be single, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and other interests
She’s keen on learning languages, and is fluent in both English and Spanish while Natalia can understand people speaking German and French.

Natalia’s a philanthropist who has worked with various charity organizations, and has also supported a campaign of the human rights organization Survival International, which aimed to bring to justice the people who killed three Colombian Indian leaders.
She’s interested in philosophy and psychology, and wanted to pursue a college degree in these fields in Australia.
Natalia loves to travel, and has been to various US states and European and Asian countries for both work and pleasure.
Her favorite actress is Helena Bonham Carter, whom she met on the set of “Harry Potter”. Natalia’s keen on watching movies starring Helena, such as “Fight Club”, “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”, and “Alice in Wonderland”.
