Nell Hudson is an English actress, singer-songwriter and author. who is probably best known to the world as Laoghaire Mackenzie in the TV series “Outlander” (2014-2018), and as Nancy Skerrett in the TV series “Victoria” (2016-2019), among several other notable roles that she’s secured so far in her young career.

Nell Rose Hudson was born on 19 November 1990 under the Scorpio zodiac sign, in Worcestershire, England, to Cressida Connolly, a journalist, and author and Charles Hudson, the second born of three children in the family.
In her teenage years she developed a passion for acting, and during her time at Oxford School of Drama, Nell featured in several school productions including “The Crucible” and “Closer”.
Nell’s career started on stage with the part of Lydia Bennett in the play “Pride and Prejudice” based on the eponymous novel of the same name from 1813 written by Jane Austen. Performed at Sheffield Crucible in 2008, Nell didn’t have any other engagement until 2012, when she made her on-screen debut in the part of Tasha Cairncross in the daytime drama “Holby City”.
She continued her career with appearances in a couple of short films, including “Cast Offs” and “Les Bohemes” both in 2013, but then in 2014 was cast in her first recurring role, as Laoghaire MacKenzie in the Primetime Emmy Award-winning fantasy romantic-drama series “Outlander”, with Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan and Duncan Lacroix in the lead roles. She featured in nine episodes of the critically acclaimed series from 2014 to 2018, and her performance then saw her in the role of Nancy Skerrett in the English period drama series “Victoria”, starring in 24 of 25 episodes of the Primetime Emmy Award-nominated series, about the early life of Queen Victoria and her rise to the throne at just 18 years old.
She guest-starred in the TV comedy series “Agatha Raisin” in 2016, with Ashley Jensen as the main star of the series, and the same year appeared as Angel in the independent drama film “Arrivals”. In 2018, Nell starred in four episodes of the short-lived crime-drama series “Informer”, starring Paddy Considine, Nabhaan Rizwan and Bel Powerly.
Nell appeared in the short film “Nobody’s Son” in 2019, followed by her guest-starring role as Tabitha Brown in the award-winning comedy crime-drama series “Death in Paradise” (2020), while in 2021 she starred in the short-lived fantasy crime-drama series “The Irregulars”, based on the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and created by Tom Bidwell for Netflix.

In addition to her work as an actress, Nell is an accomplished musician. She is a solo singer and a songwriter, is proficient on ukulele and piano, and a frequent headline act at London’s famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, as well as touring with Jools Holland.
Her mother is an accomplished author and journalist, as is Nell’s sister Violet, who has written for The Daily Telegraph, Tatler, and The Spectator – Nell herself wrote for the Tatler List.
However, her aspirations widened over the years, and Nell started working on her debut novel. Entitled “Just For Today”, it’s a story about a friendship, and is set for publication in early 2022 through Tinder Press.

Nell may not be married, however, she is taken. Back in 2019, she introduced guitarist Jake Chatterton as her boyfriend to fans, and since then the two have been inseparable. She often uploads pictures of them onto her official Instagram page.
Before Jake, Nell was in a relationship with singer Will Taylor, best known to the world as the frontman of the band Flyte.
