Who is Sam Lerner?

Samuel Bryce ‘Sam’ Lerner was born in Los Angeles, California USA, on 27 September 1992 – his zodiac sign is Libra, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor with over 40 credits to his name, perhaps known best for his portrayal of Geoff Schwartz in the comedy series “The Goldbergs”. It was created by Adam F. Goldberg, stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, Sean Giambrone and Troy Gentile, and follows members of the Goldberg family who are living in Jenkintown in Pennsylvania in the ‘80s. The series has been airing since 2013, and has won four of the 16 awards for which it has been nominated.

Early life, siblings, parents, and education

Sam was raised in Los Angeles alongside his sister Jenny, by their father Ken Lerner, a noted American actor, and their mother Patti (nee Klein), who’s a reporter. Sam’s uncle Michael C. Lerner is also a famous American actor, who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, for his performance in the 1991 black comedy psychological thriller movie “Barton Fink”.

Having been raised in a family of actors, Sam himself became interested in acting at a very early age. He began practicing it upon enrolling at an elementary school and joining its drama club, and Sam was 10 years old when he made his debut TV series appearance, in the 2003 episode “Kicked Out” of the sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle”, thus launching his acting career.

The same year saw him appear in the romantic comedy series “Two and a Half Men”, and he also made his debut film appearance, with his portrayal of Marty, in the family comedy “My Life with Men”.

Sam continued acting throughout his entire education. He attended a local high school in Los Angeles, and upon matriculating in 2010, chose to focus on his acting career rather than to pursue a college degree.

Sam gained recognition in 2008, when he was cast to voice the main characters, Zak Saturday and Zak Monday, in all the 36 episodes of the animated action adventure “The Secret Saturdays”. It was created by Jay Stephens, and follows a family who knows everything about the cryptids creatures, and is fighting to protect them from the forces of evil.

The series aired from 2008 to 2010, and was nominated for a single award.

The following years saw Sam make a guest appearance in an episode of various series, with some of the most notable amongst these having been the romantic family comedy “Sonny with a Chance”, the mystery crime drama “Rizzoli & Isles”, and the action crime drama “NCIS”. Between 2011 and 2014, he played the supporting character Evan, in the comedy “Suburgatory”, created by Emily Kapnek, and which starred Jeremy Sisto, Jane Levy and Carly Chaikin. It follows Tessa Altman who has moved to Chatswin after having lived in a big city; the series won one of the nine awards for which it was nominated.

Three of Sam’s most recent roles in TV series have been in three episodes of the sports comedy drama “Ballers” in 2019, the 2020 episode “Every Quarantine Ever” of the comedy “Every [Blank] Ever”, and the 2021 episode “Hairicane/Piney & Lord Prickles” of the short animated adventure “TrollsTopia” (voice role).

Roles in movies

In 2006, Sam voiced the main character Chowder, in the hit animated family comedy “Monster House”, directed by Gil Kenan, and which also starred Mitchel Musso and Spencer Locke. It follows three teenagers who have learned that their neighbor’s house is alive, as well as very dangerous’ the movie won four of the 28 awards for which it was nominated, including an Oscar nomination.

A couple of Sam’s following notable performances were in the 2010 short mystery “Seventeen”, the drama “Nobody Walks”, and the comedy “Like Father” both in 2012.

Sam also appeared in the hit 2018 horror thriller “Truth or Dare”, which won one of the five awards for which it was nominated.

His two most recent roles in movies have been in the 2021 short comedies “Sorry I Missed That” and “GigiBoy”.

Back in 2013, Sam was in an on-screen relationship with Hayley Orrantia, in the series “The Goldbergs”. The rumors soon began spreading around the internet, claiming that they were also dating in real life, however, both Sam and Hayley stated that they were only close friends, although not all of their fans believed them.

Since 2018, Sam has been in a relationship with Olivia Sui, a Chinese-American actress, who’s perhaps known best for being a member of the comedy sketch troupe Smosh. The two can be seen attending various events together, while they’ve also uploaded many pictures onto their Instagram accounts, which feature them together.

As of August 2021, Sam’s in a relationship with Olivia Sui, hasn’t married, and doesn’t have children.

Hobbies and other interests

Sam has multiple training sessions at the gym every week, thus his muscular body. He enjoys uploading pictures featuring himself shirtless onto his Instagram account, and he’s quite active on the network, as he seems to like the attention he’s receiving from his over 110,000 followers; Sam’s uploaded more than 2,400 pictures.

He’s a dog-lover, and his pet dog can be seen featured in some of his Instagram pictures.

Sam enjoys travelling, and his acting career has taken him to more than 10 US states, while he’s also visited a couple of European countries, including Croatia and France.

In his spare time, Sam likes to watch movies starring his favorite actor and actress, Johnny Depp and Amanda Seyfried, such as the franchise “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Alice in Wonderland” and “Dear John”.
