Born under the sign of Pisces on 16 March 2001, in Columbus, Ohio USA, Sophia Rose Wilson is a 22-year-old Caucasian actress. She’s probably easiest to recognize around the planet thanks to having been involved in HBO’s award-winning teen drama TV series entitled “Euphoria.” She hasn’t worked on any other projects, but the overwhelming success of her only role makes her name quite recognizable nonetheless. She’s thus had relative success over the course of her quite remunerative acting career since 2019.
Early life & education: Behind closed doors
Sophia was raised alongside her twin sister Heather Marie in their birthplace, by their parents of still unknown names and professions. She hasn’t spoken much about her childhood, but it’s known to fans that she never fostered any dreams of making it in Hollywood, instead focusing on her school, family, and social life. The early interests that she did have are yet to be revealed by the actress herself, though it’s apparent that she had a penchant for posting on social media.
As for her education, Sophia attended a local high school where she was born, matriculating from there in 2019. She’s remained mum on the idea of pursuing higher education, and most of her followers believe that like most young actresses, she’ll, choose to focus on her career rather than college, especially after the success of her project.
Career: A chance encounter
The future actress was freshly 17 years old on 31 March 2018 while shopping at a mall in her hometown, hoping to find something tasty in the food court and make her way home, when an HBO scout took note of her and approached. According to the interview Wilson gave for “Good Day Columbus,” the unknown woman apologized for the potentially awkward situation, and complimented her appearance and charisma. Sophia was then interviewed for approximately 15 minutes in a conversation that ended on a high note, with the scout promising that her manager would follow up with additional details. Having never auditioned for a role, or even considered making it in the entertainment industry, the teen was initially highly skeptical about everything that happened, agreeing almost sarcastically to their future co-operation.

To Sophia’s surprise, however, the scout contacted her less than 48 hours later, offering to provide the script for the audition, and Sophia got to bring her character to life for an audition video two days after being given the script. In late April 2018 she was flown out to New York City foran in-person role tryout. On 14 May, she received a call from the production team, who informed her that she would be flying to Hollywood to shoot the first season of Sam Levinson’s take on the original Israeli teen drama entitled “Euphoria.” Wilson was given the role of Barbara Brooks, also known as ‘BB,’ who is one of the three recurring characters, there to add to the overall environment and bolster the story, but not carry the narrative. She was seen in five out of the first season’s eight episodes, released between June and August of 2019. Finally, she showed up another four times in the second installment, in January and February of 2022.
The series apparently gets refreshed every three years, as the third season was confirmed by HBO for 2025, as reported by Variety. It appears that “Euphoria” has captivated the audience despite its lengthy release dates, having won 43 awards since its debut, nine of which are Primetime Emmys. Its IMDb rating of 8.3 also keeps it above most teen dramas, while its leading stars such as Zendaya, Hunter Schafer and Jacob Elordi also add to the glamour associated with the title.
As for Sophia herself, “Euphoria” is still the only Hollywood project she’s been involved in, and there are no indications in early 2024 that she’s preparing for any other role. While her debut has created a high profile, it remains to be seen whether any other production company will choose to work with her, considering the controversy that came to surround her in the wake of the series’ success. Due to these issues, the fans speculate that HBO will exclude her character from future releases as well, with some considering her acting career to be nothing more than a short stint with an uncertain ending.
What’s the controversy about? Is she really racist?
Outlets such as popbuzz.com and similar ones ran the story on Wilson’s apparent internet misbehavior in early 2022, most of which was unearthed from as early as six years prior. Loyal fans of “Euphoria” did their due diligence scrolling the feeds of all its stars, eventually running into Sophia’s posts from when she was around 14 and 15 years old. What they discovered was shocking to most netizens in this day and age, as Wilson had evidently used racial slurs as a young teenager, and, even worse to Twitter users, dedicated a few posts to former US president Donald Trump. More specifically, Sophia posted several statuses containing the n-word, and uploaded various singing videos on TikTok whose lyrics also contained the slur.

According to some Reddit users, the rest of the cast have found out about the actress’ unsavory posting history, choosing thereby to avoid any public association with her. As a result, Wilson is treated like a stranger by other celebrities, which seriously hampers her career prospects in the long run. Other fans have questioned the idea that Sophia is some unredeemable racist villain, positing that she was only a young teen while uploading such content. There’s also the fact that she was either singing songs that originally contain slurs, or exploring her identity by emulating the way her African-American friends express themselves, whereas any inkling of an actually racist mindset is yet to present itself across her social media. Regardless of what the case may be, a single spark is often enough to light the flames of social justice witch hunting, and Sophia is by all means in the thick of it.
Unconventional family benefits
Sophia’s critics were also less-than-amused by the comments her sister Heather kept leaving on most of her Instagram posts, consistently advertising her OnlyFans to what she thought at the time would be an ever-growing army of fans. It seems that Sophia, who doesn’t have an account on the adult website, finds her sister’s actions acceptable enough to allow this behavior. Seeing as “Euphoria” generally features underage teenagers and attracts a similar audience, this otherwise insignificant detail has put Wilson under additional scrutiny, further diminishing her chances of making it in the entertainment industry.
Love life: Is she dating anyone?
Wilson has remained mum on the topic of her romantic involvements, and her social media posts don’t offer any clues into her relationship status either. Some fans have speculated that she might be involved with the only male showing up in her selfies, a certain singer named Marcus, based in Los Angeles, California. However, the rumors were eventually quashed by Sophia’s own publication with who is apparently her best friend.
Her Instagram post from 23 October 2021 revealed that he’s been one of the few instrumental people in her life, having always supported her no matter the challenge. Those who disapproved of her history of using slurs were quick to point out that she may have felt somewhat more entitled than her average Caucasian peer due to having this connection, as Marcus is African-American. Since that was the only possible clue as to whom she might be dating, Sophia is generally believed to be single as of early 2024.
Net worth: How rich is she?
It’s been estimated by some of the most reputable sources on the matter that Sophia’s total accumulated wealth is close to $200,000, earned entirely by appearing in nine out of 18 episodes of “Euphoria.” It’s not generally expected that her net worth will grow significantly anytime soon, due to her very future in the industry being brought into question.
Body measurements: What is her height?
Wilson is 5ft 6ins (167cms) tall, and weighs approximately 149lbs (68kgs). She’s a brunette with wavy hair and has dark brown eyes, with generally pale complexion and a body type most often described as curvy.
