Given that “America’s Got Talent” features individuals with differing sets of skills, it’s not usual for many singers to stand out. However, that’s not the case for Charlotte Summers, the 13-year-old girl who left audiences and judges open-mouthed with her amazing vocal skills and impressive stage presence.

When Summer was on the show’s stage, her young age and the fact she was not a native English speaker mattered very little compared to her astounding talent on display. Due to that, it’s unsurprising that she made it far into the competition, and didn’t leave the audiences’ hearts even after her elimination.

So what’s going on with Charlotte these days? How is her career going, what other TV shows has she been in, and has she released any original music? Keep watching to find out!

What Charlotte Has Been Up To

The last time we saw Charlotte Summers on the “America’s Got Talent” stage was during the 14th season in 2019. Unfortunately, she didn’t pass the Quarter-finals episode, but her talent and voice were astounding enough to turn her into one of the most unforgettable singers of that season.

Unsurprisingly for such a talented performer as Charlotte, she continued pursuing her music career after her exit from the show. As seen on her highly popular YouTube channel, her covers of songs by artists such as Dolly Parton, Hozier, Billie Eilish, and Beyonce have gained hundreds of thousands of views of every video.

Charlotte has been releasing original music non-stop, on top of achieving a very important milestone in her life by matriculating from high school in early 2023. These days Charlotte still lives in Marbella, Spain, alongside her family.

Regarding Charlotte’s popularity resulting from her American TV participation, it’s clear that it affected her in positive ways. Nowadays, her Instagram account is close to reaching 230,000 followers, while her YouTube channel has gained 260,000 subscribers and 72 million views combined.

There’s no doubt that Charlotte’s career will keep growing, but for now, she leaves us with a warm feeling in our hearts at seeing how far she’s gone.

Path In AGT

The first song Charlotte Summers sang in “America’s Got Talent” was Jay Hawkins’ “I Put A Spell On You”. The powerful song and her excellent performance were a huge contrast to her initial nervousness and admission of wanting to buy a guinea pig if she were to win the show’s $1 million prize! Soon enough, all judges voted yes to pass her to the next show’s stage, leaving no doubts about how impressive she was.

The next time we saw Charlotte in the show was during the Judge Cuts episode when she flawlessly performed Lesley Gore’s hit song “You Don’t Own Me”. Her rendition was praised not only for her top-notch vocals, but also for choosing an early feminist hymn to sing, as judge Jay Leno pointed out.

Charlotte was quickly admitted to the next stage of the show – the Quarterfinals – in which she took over the stage with a fabulous rendition of “Diamonds Are Forever”, by Shirley Bassey from the 1971 James Bond movie. While Charlotte left everyone impressed with her performance, she didn’t gain enough votes to advance in the competition, being placed in one of the last places of the America’s Vote poll.

Nevertheless, Charlotte’s elimination didn’t erase the fact that her performance videos from the show became widely popular on the internet.

Beginnings

Despite how young Charlotte Summers is, she already has a lot to be proud of when it comes to her career. She was born on 15 November 2005 in Marbella, Southern Spain, the eldest daughter of Simon and Estibaliz, and older sister to Renee, whom Charlotte described as her closest person, during her “America’s Got Talent” introduction.

As Charlotte commented in a TV show from 2016, she began singing at around seven or eight years old, soon letting her voice be known by her close ones. Charlotte’s mother praised her ability and soon signed her up to be cast in a local dance act of “Les Misérables”, into which she was accepted not long afterwards.

A year after her singing debut, one of Charlotte’s singing videos was discovered by someone affiliated with “La Voz Kids”, the Spanish version of “The Voice Kids”. That led Charlotte to join the show during its second season, which premiered in 2015.

Sadly, Charlotte was eliminated from the show during a sing-off competition, but that didn’t stop her dreams of making it big. In 2016, she auditioned for “Fenomeno Fan”, a Spanish talent competition aimed at children between five and 15 years old. Though Charlotte didn’t take the show’s winning spot, she made it to the finals.

Debut On American

Following Charlotte Summers’ stints in several Spain-based talent shows, she was ready to make it even further. In August 2016, she won a competition called “Big Talent Plaza Mayor” in Malaga, Spain.

The next year Charlotte made it to the Italy-based talent show “Eurokids International”, where she performed the song “Unicorn” written by the Greek songwriter Georgios Kalpakidis and Swedish singers Ylva & Linda Persson.

“Unicorn” ended up winning the category of Best Original Song, on top of allowing her to test the waters of international success. That was a big motivator for Charlotte to finally make it to the US, where she appeared in “Little Big Shots” on two occasions in 2018.

The first time in the show, Charlotte performed “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” by James Brown, followed by a rendition of Charles Brown’s “Please Come Home For Christmas” in December of that year, which was recorded by Charlotte as a single.

What Songs Has Charlotte Released So Far?

In 2017 Charlotte Summers released her debut singles “Unicorn” and “Lifting Me Up”. Two years later, she released her “Please Come Home For Christmas” cover, taking two years to release her next single “Christmas Is Here”, written by her and her father.

In 2022, Charlotte released the song “Giants”, followed by the singles “Can’t Stand By”, “Perfectly Broken” and “Picture On The Wall” in 2023, and in March 2024, she released the single “Holding On”.

All in all, everything seems to be going great for Charlotte Summers as of mid-2024, leaving no doubt about how much potential she has to become a superstar.
