To become a record-breaking TV production is something that not every show can accomplish, besides the always iconic “General Hospital”. Not only is the soap the longest-running daytime show in the US, but unsurprisingly it’s managed to retain a loyal and stable audience throughout the six decades it’s been on air, thanks to its interesting storylines, attention-grabbing cast, and lovely and complex couples.
While it’s difficult to keep up to date with such a massively long-running show, we’ve recounted all the couples who are still together, divorcing, or making their love flourish in the “General Hospital” 61st season, which premiered in early 2024.

Dating.. for now!
Dex and Josslyn
For the last couple of years, Josslyn Jacks and Dex Heller have kept viewers on the edge of their seats with their sweet, yet secretive, romance. It hasn’t been a smooth path for the couple, though, as they started on the wrong foot, when Josslyn threatened Dex with posting the video which caught him attacking Felty.
Things moved on from there, with the pair unwillingly finding each other teaming up on more than one occasion, their initial wariness turning into an inconspicuous attraction. On New Year’s Eve of 2022, the couple finally gave in to their feelings and slept together, though their relationship was kept a secret for fear of Dex’s boss Sonny Corinthos’ reaction.
While it didn’t take long for the pair to find out they could be open about their feelings for each other, their relationship ended when Josslyn discovered Dex’s intention of killing Cyrus Renault. The heartbreaking Trina-Spencer situation united them again, resulting in Dex and Josslyn’s reconciliation, but no one knows whether one of Dex’s secrets would eventually destroy their relationship.
Damian and Maxie
The couple formed by Damian Spinelli and Maxie Jones goes a long way back, and has survived a lot of highs and lows. Their story started in 2008, but resulted in a relationship which didn’t go anywhere, despite the fact that each loved the other. They are parents to Georgie, the daughter they conceived during New Year’s Eve when both found comfort in a one-night stand.

After agreeing to share Georgie’s custody and pursuing relationships with other people, the season 61st of “General Hospital” showed them reconnecting with each other, Maxie and Damian’s renewed romance slowly but surely progressing, allowing the couple to enjoy raising their family while letting their feelings follow a natural course. Nevertheless, it’s hard to tell how much their bliss will last, considering the unexpected nature of daytime dramas.
Divorcing or already divorced!
Sonny and Nina
The story of Sonny Corinthos and Nina Reeves is a messy one. The pair connected when Sonny was still suffering from amnesia, but Nina’s reluctance to let go of their romance to see him recover his health set the couple down a toxic path.
While Sonny and Nina’s romance was built on unstable ground, they were married for a couple of months before Sonny discovered Nina’s lies and wrongdoings. In “General Hospital” season 61st, viewers saw the separation and eventual divorce of Sonny and Nina unfold, with the latter returning her rings to the Corinthos mob boss.
Portia and Curtis
Curtis Ashford and Portia Robinson might be married, but their relationship has been on shaky ground from the beginning. Not long after their first on-screen interactions took place in 2020, their relationship progressed from seeming hatred to love, though there are certain aspects of their past which were meant to make their future together quite difficult.
Not only do Curtis and Portia share a past as lovers two decades ago, but their relinked romantic feelings seem to have moved forward a little too quickly, considering that he’d just divorced Jordan Ashford. Though Curtis and Portia acknowledged and worked on this before their relationship progressed further, they only enjoyed the bliss of love for a short time before the big revelation of his paternity of Trina Robinson coincided with his wedding with Portia in early 2023.
Even though Portia and Curtis haven’t separated for good, and were working on things in the meantime, Curtis didn’t make the situation any better by showing clear interest in his ex-wife Jordan.
Set up for demise
Spencer and Trina
One of the biggest surprises of season 61 of “General Hospital” was the turn which the relationship of Spencer Cassadine and Trina Robinson took. The couple’s history started in 2021, when they met during Spencer’s break-in into Jerome Gallery, back when his identity as the son of Nikolas Cassadine was still unconfirmed.
Right from the beginning, the audience could sense the chemistry between Trina and Spencer, but it still took a while to see them going past the casual flirting to having real romantic interactions, though not before occasionally fantasizing about a future with each other. The pair were caught in the not unusual dramatic and unexpected plot turns of “General Hospital” at one point, on top of dealing with the memory of their exes.
Following a brief fake relationship between the two, Spencer and Trina got together and overcame many difficulties together. However, their bliss ended in early 2024, when Spencer was attacked and accidentally fell off a cruise ship during a confrontation with his vengeful ex-girlfriend Esme.
With Spencer’s presumed death and Trina finding peace within herself while dealing with grief, it’s unclear what will now happen to the couple, given that Spencer’s portrayal by actor Nicholas Chavez, now having exited “General Hospital” in early 2024.
Happily Married
Brook Lynn and Chase
Brook Lynn Quartermaine and Harrison Chase are the type of couple who don’t fail to warm the hearts of the audience. From their first interaction in 2020, ChaLynn grew close despite the chaotic circumstances of their first meeting, when Brook accidentally broke a glass bottle over Chase’s head.
While building mutual trust took the pair some time, and saw them go through a number of difficulties, they eventually passed the flirting phase to become engaged on a December night. Their marriage was aired during the 61st season of “General Hospital” in 2024, in an episode which was regarded by fans as one of the show’s best soap opera weddings. Only time and the plot will tell how long the newlyweds’ bliss lasts, but it’s undeniably been an exciting adventure for everyone so far.
Ned and Olivia
It’s been a rough path for Ned and Olivia Quartermaine, whose picture-perfect family is the result of overcoming many difficulties. After getting together and marrying, the pair’s planned adoption was on the rocks, due to his infidelity with his old flame Alexis Davis.
After a break-up and reconciliation, Ned and Olivia adopted Leo just before he suffered from amnesia for a short while. The sudden loss of his memory resulted in Ned finding his love for his family resurfacing, sorting out things for the time being with Olivia.
So what will happen now to all the couples in “General Hospital”. Of course, only time will tell, assuring the continued attention of their audience.
