American actor and screenwriter Peter L. ‘Finn’ Wittrock Jr. was born in Lenox, Massachusetts USA, on 28 October 1984, so his zodiac sign’s Scorpio. He’s appeared in close to 50 movies and TV series, and is perhaps known best for playing Dandy Mott and various other characters in 31 episodes of the critically acclaimed science fiction anthology series “American Horror Story”, which Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk created, and which stars Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates and Lady Gaga. It follows various characters as they’re living at odd locations, the series has been airing since 2011 and has won 144 of its 545 award nominations.

Education and early life

Finn was raised in Los Angeles, California alongside his younger brother Dylan, by their father Peter L. Wittrock who’s also an actor, and mother Kate Claire Crowley who’s teaching occupational therapy at the University of Southern California.

Finn spent a lot of time while growing up at the theatre Shakespeare & Company where his father worked, and was occasionally cast to play messengers and pageboys. He studied at Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, and made his debut film appearance aged 17, when cast to star as Tigo in the 2002 short drama “Le Dernier Tour”.

Finn matriculated in 2003 and was to enroll at the prestigious Juilliard School, but instead chose to move to Los Angeles and work directly on his way up in the film industry; he applied again a year later, and subsequently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2008.

Finn’s debut TV series role was playing Young Eric Whitley in the 2003 episode “Look Again” of the crime mystery “Cold Case”, and the same year saw him portray Thomas Yoder in the episode “Missing” of the romantic drama “ER”.

He began attracting attention in 2009, when cast to star as Damon Miller in the romantic mystery “All My Children”, appearing in 119 episodes in two years – the soap opera was created by Agnes Nixon, starred Michael E. Knight, David Canary and Susan Luccy, and follows Erica Kane who seems to enjoy changing husbands; the series aired its 4,300 episodes from 1970 through 2011, and won 193 of its 768 award nominations.

The year 2004 saw Finn play Cody in the family fantasy comedy “Halloweentown High”, directed by Mark A. Z. Dippe, and which starred Kimberly J. Brown, Debbie Reynolds and Judith Hoag. It follows a girl from a magical world who’s trying to persuade her parents that she and other children from Halloweentown should attend a school in the mortal world.

Finn’s following role came in 2010, when cast to play Warren in the action thriller “Twelve”, and some of his next roles were in the fantasy mystery “Winter’s Tale”, the action adventure “Noah”, and the biographical historical drama “The Normal Heart”, all released in 2014.

Also in 2014, he played Mac in the popular biographical action “Unbroken”, directed by Angelina Jolie, and which starred Jack O’Connell, Miyavi and Domhnall Gleeson. It follows Olympian Louis Zamperini whose plane crashed during World War II, and who spent 47 days on a raft prior to being captured by the Japanese navy; the movie won 14 of its 50 award nominations, including three Oscar nominations for Best Achievement in Sound Editing, Best Achievement in Sound Mixing, and Best Achievement in Cinematography.

Finn’s also known for portraying Greg in the 2016 musical comedy “La La Land”, which Damien Chazelle wrote and directed, and which starred Rosemarie DeWitt, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. It follows an actress and a pianist who’ve fallen in love, and the movie won 249 of its 546 award nominations, including six Oscar wins for Best Achievement in Cinematography, Best Achievement in Directing, and Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role (Emma Stone), among others.

Finn’s three most recent movie roles have been in the 2021 drama “A Mouthful of Air”, and in 2022 the mystery thriller “Deep Water” and the  action thriller “Luckiest Girl Alive”; he’s currently shooting for the upcoming movies “Louie”, “Downtown Owl” and “Start Without Me”.

Finn met his future other half Sarah Roberts when he applied for the Juilliard School the second time. The two began dating in 2004, and had been together for 10 years when they exchanged vows in a private ceremony on 18 October 2014, in front of their closest friends and family members. Sarah gave birth to their son Jude in March 2019, and he can be seen featured in some of her and Finn’s Instagram pictures and videos.

Finn hasn’t spoken about other girls whom he’s maybe dated, he’s married to Sarah Roberts as of January 2023, and they have a son together.

Finn’s father’s of Austrian, Danish and Norwegian descent – their surname originated in Denmark.

Some of the characters which he’s hoping to play include Hamlet, Henry IV and Henry V.

Finn was a huge fan of American actress and director Angelina Jolie prior to meeting her on the set of the 2014 movie “Unbroken”, which she directed; he’s stated that she’s ‘surprisingly down-to-earth’, and that she’s all about work.

He’s followed by close to 800,000 people on Instagram, and has posted nearly 350 pictures and videos onto the social media network; he often features his Beagle dog in these pictures.

Finn uses his popularity on Instagram to urge people to vote in presidential elections.
