Born on 3 January 1994, Frankie’s zodiac sign is Capricorn; she’s a Savai, Samoa native raised in Auckland, New Zealand, so holds both Samoan and New Zealand nationality, and when it comes to her ethnicity, she comes from a family of Aboriginal-Australian descent. When Frankie was a toddler, her parents, Allan and Lau, moved to Auckland, where her sisters Julie and Flo-Jo were born.

Frankie had an interest in acting from an early age, and began acting on television aged 16. She attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 2012, she didn’t go to college but pursued her acting career.

Acting career

Frankie made her acting debut playing Ula Levi in the series “Shortland Street” in 2010, also starring Michael Galvin, Ben Mitchell and Sally Martin. This is one of the longest-running shows in New Zealand, which premiered back in 1992 and is still airing. It follows the story of staff and patients at Auckland city hospital; Frankie was seen in 278 episodes though 2014.

Two years later, she was cast to play Tasha Goodwin in the series “Wentworth”, which was her first appearance in a show produced in the US.

In 2017, Frankie made her big-screen debut as Ilisa in the drama “One Thousand Ropes”, in which she starred opposite Lagi Farani and Beulah Koale. The movie followed the story of a father and his estranged daughter who reconnect, and now the father is given a chance to reshape the future of his family. It had four award nominations and won two, including the New Zealand Cinematographers Society Gold Award for Features.

Later that year, Frankie was cast to play her most notable television role to date, as Roberta in “The Expanse”. From 2017 to 2022, Frankie was seen in 52 episodes of the series “The Expanse”, starring opposite Steven Strait, Wes Chatham, and Dominique Tipper.

Concurrently, she was cast to play Yasmina Rashid in the 2018 fantasy adventure “Mortal Engines”, from the filmmakers of “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings”, which had five award nominations and won three.
