Who is Elizabeth Gutierrez?
Elizabeth Gutierrez Nevare was born in Los Angeles, California USA, on 1 April 1978. She is an actress and model of Mexican descent, primarily known for her work in telenovelas. She started her career in the entertainment industry at a young age, and has appeared in a number of Latin-American soap operas throughout her career, including “Olvidarte Jamás”, “El Fantasma de Elena”, and “El Rostro de Analia”.
Early life and education
Elizabeth was born into a family of Mexican immigrants, the youngest of seven siblings. When she was five years old, the family moved back to Jalisco, Mexico, where her father is originally from, where she attended the local elementary school. At the age of 15, Elizabeth returned to the US with the rest of her family.
She took her first steps in the entertainment industry as a model in the popular game show “The Price is Right”, before appearing in the reality TV show “Protaginistas de Novela” in 2002.
Career as an actress
Elizabeth made her acting debut in 2005, in the Mexican telenovela “Olvidarte Jamas”, playing the role of the main antagonist, Isabella – she left the series 12 episodes before the finale, because of her pregnancy. In 2007, she played her first leading telenovela role in Venevision International’s “Amor Comparado”, opposite Jose Angel Llamas.
In the following year, she took on another leading role, this time in “El Rostro de Analia”, produced by Telemundo network. The series became very popular in Mexico, and was subsequently broadcast in more than 50 other countries, turning Elizabeth into an international sensation.
In 2009, she returned to playing a villain, in the fifth remake of “Corazon Salvaje” – her performance was widely praised by the audience and TV critics alike. Her third lead role was in the family drama “El Fantasma de Elena”. The series wasn’t very popular locally, however, it still became an international hit, broadcast in more than 70 countries. This was her last major telenovela role, as in recent years, she’s only made sporadic guest appearances in series such as “Milagros de Navidad” and “El Rostro de la Venganza”.
She’s won several awards for her acting, including the TVyNovelas Award for Best Co-lead Actress in 2012.
Relationship with William Levy
Elizabeth met William while they were both competing on the reality show “Protagonistas de Novela” in 2002, since when the two have been in a complicated on-and-off relationship to this day. In 2006, they welcomed son Christopher Alexander, while daughter Kailey Alexandra, was born in 2010. Contrary to what some may believe, the couple haven’t formally married or become engaged. their relationship has been the subject of controversy over the years, due to a number of public break-ups, reconciliations, and (alleged) affairs.
The first sign of issues in their relationship happened in 2007. At the time William was starring in the popular telenovela “Cuidade con el Angel”, opposite Maite Perroni. Many speculated that their on-screen romance translated to real-life, and accused William of infidelity toward Elizabeth, but these rumors were never confirmed.
Two years later, Elizabeth and William announced their break-up, and around the same time, he was romantically linked to his “Sortilego” co-star Jacky Bracamontes, although both of them denied it at the time. The truth about their relationship came out more than eight years later, when the actress confirmed in her autobiography “De Ella La Pasaela de mi Vida” that she had an affair with Levy while making the series, but which wasn’t long-lasting, as the actor soon reconciled with Elizabeth, who gave birth to their second child in 2010.
Less than a year later, they broke up again, with Elizabeth making a public statement, saying: ‘I want to announce that I have made the decision to end the relationship that I’ve had with William Levy for eight years’. However…the couple eventually reconciled again.
The relationship turmoil continued, when in 2013, the actor faced accusations of having an affair with another one of his telenovela co-stars – Ximena Navarrete from “La Tempestad”, then in 2015, he and Elizabeth allegedly broke up but reconciled again. In the following years, they were occasionally seen spending time together although they appeared to be living more or less separate lives.
On 27 January 2022, Levy posted a message on his Instagram, seemingly announcing his separation from Elizabeth, saying that he was ‘ready for a new chapter in his life’ – true to form, he deleted the post several minutes later, but it caused a stir nonetheless.
The current status of their relationship remains unclear, with speculation circling around that they may have broken up for good this time. However, in late 2022, Elizabeth and William were spotted together in Spain, seemingly taking a vacation without their two kids, hinting at a possible reconciliation. Anyone surprised!?
