Who is Matthew Daddario?
Matthew Quincy Daddario was born in New York City, USA on 1 October 1987 – his zodiac sign is Libra, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor with 13 credits to his name, while he’s perhaps known best for his portrayal of Alec Lightwood, in the action fantasy series “Shadowhunters”. Early life, sisters and education
Matthew was raised in New York City alongside his younger sister Catharine Daddario, and older sister Alexandra Daddario who is also an actress, and is perhaps still known best for her portrayal of Annabeth Chase, in the film series “Percy Jackson” in 2010 and ‘13. Their father, Richard Daddario, was the head of New York Police Department Counterterrorism Unit, and their mother Christina Daddario is a lawyer.
Matthew became interested in acting mostly thanks to his sister, as he occasionally kept her company while she was shooting for her movies and TV series. He studied at the Collegiate School, and was mostly interested in sports during his time there, playing football and basketball for the school teams.
Upon matriculating in 2006, Matthew enrolled at Indiana University Bloomington, from which he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in economics in 2010.

Matthew made his debut film appearance in 2012, when he portrayed Peter Hamble, in the short family drama “The Debut”, followed by his first feature film appearance in the 2013 romantic drama “Breathe In”. Written and directed by Drake Doremus and starring Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce and Mackenzie Davis, it follows the life of a foreign exchange student, who has come to a small New York town. The movie was nominated for three awards.
The year 2013 saw him play Sebastian in the thriller “36 Saints”, and the following year he portrayed Channing in the critically acclaimed comedy “Delivery Man”.
Written and directed by Ken Scott, it starred Vince Vaughn, Chris Pratt and Cobie Smulders, and is the story of a man who has just learned that he fathers 533 children, as he’s donated sperm to a fertility clinic numerous times in the past two decades. A couple of Matthew’s following roles were in the 2014 comedy “Growing Up and Other Lies”, and in 2015 the biographical family drama “When the Game Stands Tall”, and the romantic comedy “Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List”. The year 2016 saw him star as Jeff, in the horror science fiction thriller “Cabin Fever”, as well as Matthias, in the short mystery drama “The Last Hunt”.

It was created by Paul Attanasio, starred Edie Falco, Michael Chernus and Adelaide Clemens, and follows the first woman to become Chief of Police in Los Angeles, California.
Just recently in 2021, Matthew played Scooter Polarsky in 10 episodes of the crime comedy drama “Why Women Kill”. It’s been airing since 2019, was created by Marc Cherry, and stars Jack Davenport, Lucy Liu and Allison Tolman.
It follows three women who are living in the same house, and have to deal with their husbands’ infidelities.
Producing and directing credits
In 2016, Matthew produced and directed the short mystery drama movie “The Last Hunt”, which follows Daniel who has been asked by his best friend to aid his passing. The movie won one of the three awards for which it was nominated.
Matthew’s currently producing the upcoming documentary film “Nomad Cowboys”, which will be about the first American Kok Boru team.
