Who is Jonah Hauer-King?

Jonah Andre Hauer-King was born in Westminster, London, England, on 30 May 1995 – his zodiac sign is Gemini and he holds both British and American nationality. He’s an actor and a model, who’s probably known best for his portrayal of Laurie Laurence in the 2017 drama mini-series “Little Women”, which starred Maya Hawke, Kathryn Newton and Dylan Baker, and follows the lives of four sisters during the American Civil War. The series won three of the 10 awards for which it was nominated.

Early life and education

Jonah was raised in Westminster alongside his sister Margot Hauer-King, who’s now an accounts manager and is in a relationship with the British actor Josh O’Connor. His parents are Jeremy King who’s a British restaurateur, and Debra Hauer who’s an American therapist and a theatre producer.

Jonah grew up being interested in sports, excelling at soccer and playing for his elementary school, high school and later university’s team. He took part in various activities while attending Eton College, as he appeared in plays, sang with the school’s band, and practiced creative writing.

Upon matriculating in 2013, he enrolled at St. John’s College, Cambridge from which he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in theology and religious studies in 2018.

Jonah made his debut film appearance in 2014 with his portrayal of AC in the short drama “The Maiden”, and the following years saw him star in various shorts, such as the 2014 musical drama “Blue”, the 2015 drama “Holding on for a Good Time”, and the 2016 comedy “Regardez”.

His first appearance in a feature film was his portrayal of Frank Rice in the 2016 comedy drama “Branagh Theatre Live: The Entertainer”, directed by Benjamin Caron and Rob Ashford, and which starred Kenneth Branagh, Phil Dunster and Yasmin Harrison; it follows John Osborne and his interest in dancing.

The same year saw him play Winchester in the comedy “Old Boys”, and Andrius in the historical romantic drama “Ashes in the Snow”.

In 2019, he was cast to star as Lucas alongside Ashley Judd and Edward James Olmos in the adventure family drama “A Dog’s Way Home”, written by three people, directed by Charles Martin Smith, and which follows a dog that travels 400 miles to find its owner in Colorado.

Two of Jonah’s most recent roles in movies have been in the 2019 musical mystery drama “The Song of Names”, which won seven of the 16 awards for which it was nominated, and the 2019 romantic crime mystery “Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar”. The year 2017 saw him portray Paul Wilcox in two episodes of the critically acclaimed romantic mini-series “Howards End”, which starred Matthew Macfadyen, Hayley Atwell and Philippa Coulthard, and follows three families the Wilcoxes, the Schlegeis and the Basts, living in England in the 20th century – and the series won one of the 12 awards for which it was nominated.

In 2019, Jonah played the lead character Harry Chase in seven episodes of the war drama “World on Fire”, created by Peter Bowker, and which also starred Julia Brown and Helen Hunt. It follows the lives of various people who have been affected by World War II – the series was nominated for five awards.

Jonah likes to travel, and has been all around Europe visiting his favorite countries France, Italy and Switzerland.
