Who is Lori Fieri?

The saying “Behind every great man is a great woman” might very well apply to Lori Fieri. She’s best known for being the wife of Guy Fieri, one of the most famous American restaurateurs, an Emmy Award-winning TV personality, and author. Lori is a very private person, so not much is known about her. She became somewhat famous in 2006, but is today  a homemaker, and a mother of two sons.

Early life, family, and educational background

Lori Ann Brisson was born on the 31st of May in North Providence, Rhode Island, USA. Some sources say she was born in 1971 and others claim 1973. Her parents were among the poor in North Providence – her father was a toolmaker and her mother was a maid.

Wiki sources don’t mention Lori having any siblings, so it’s still unclear if she has any. Details about her education are not publicly known either, apart from the fact that she finished grade school and high school in Rhode Island. She’s presumed to have lived all her life in Rhode Island until 1992, when she made a cross country move to San Diego, California.

Career

Lori Fieri does not have an established career; it’s not known what she did professionally before she came into the public eye. Lori’s main occupation is being a homemaker. Being interested in food, she sometimes helps Guy in TV shows. He’s also mentioned her as a creative force in his work, as she sometimes comes up with strange recipes and ideas about his shows.

Personal life, husband Guy Fieri

As mentioned above, not much is known about Lori Fieri, but what is well reported, however, is the first time Guy met Lori, as Guy told the whole story to Delish in 2017. They met in 1992 in Long Beach, California, after Lori moved there. Guy was running a restaurant called Parker’s Lighthouse there, and the person who Lori was there with was fired from that place. Guy came up to them and asked them to come back in a few weeks, basically telling them they shouldn’t be there. “I was talking to her friend and saying ‘Hey, listen, wait a few weeks before you come in,’ and standing behind her is this blue-eyed, blonde girl giving me this mean mug,” said Guy. Lori stood up to him and started an argument.

Later on that day they made up, and started dating soon after. Guy says he won her over with his cooking. Lori and Guy married in 1995, and had their first child, a son named Hunter, on the 13th of August 1996. “I want to follow in the same path, because I feel like I can kill it with that,” Hunter told Delish in 2017. “I want it all. I want to open my own restaurants – to have things that I created and things my dad created and run this empire.” On the 31st of December 2005 Lori gave birth to another boy they named Ryder.

Guy always says how much of a support and inspiration Lori is to him, and that he wouldn’t have been able to do everything he has, had it not been for his wife.

Who is Guy Fieri?

Guy Ramsey Ferry was born on the 22nd January 1968 in Columbus, Ohio, to his mother Penelope Ann (maiden name “Price”), and father Lewis James Ferry. He grew up in Humboldt County, California with his parents and his younger sister Morgan. During high school, he was an exchange student in France where he became interested in food and cooking. Upon his return, he worked at the Red Lion restaurant in Eureka, California, then went to college at the University of Nevada, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management. Soon afterwards, he went to work at Parker’s Lighthouse as manager – the place where he met his future wife Lori.

Upon marriage, both Guy and Lori changed their last names. Guy’s grandfather originally came from Italy, and his last name was Fieri, but changed it to Ferry to sound more American – Lori convinced Guy to change his last name to the original spelling.

Guy opened his first restaurant, “Johnny Garlic’s”, as a co-owner in 1996, and soon after many other locations opened around California. After 2010, he opened restaurants on the East Coast of the US as well.

He became a TV persona in 2006, when he won the second season of Food Network’s “The Next Food Network Star”.

He had a contract for six episodes of his own show on Food Network, called “Guy’s Big Bite”. What followed was many other cooking shows on Food Network, among which are “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives”, Ultimate Recipe Showdown”, “Guy of the Hook”, “The Guy’s Family Road Trip”, and “The Guy and Hunter’s European Vacation” – he and his son do that show together, and many others.

Lori has been with him on over 1100 locations, filming his TV shows, and occasionally appearing in them as well.

Lori and Guy have been married for over 25 years now, and in 2020 to Insider magazine they said that the key to a good marriage is compromise and understanding.

The Fieri family currently lives in Santa Rosa, California.
