Nicholas Dewan ‘Nick’ Sagar was born in England on 7 January 1988 – his zodiac sign is Capricorn, he holds British nationality, and is of Jamaican and Indian ethnicity. He’s an actor and a model, perhaps known best for playing the role of Detective Alonzo Loya, in the crime series “Queen of the South”.
Early life and family
Nick grew up in London, England; his father has Indian ancestry, while his mother is from Jamaica. He has an older brother named Michael, and a younger brother named Sean, who is also an actor and a model.
Nick had various interests while growing up, including playing for his high school’s soccer team as a teenager, and took breakdancing classes. Before his acting career kicked off, he was aspiring to become a doctor.
Roles in movies
Nick made his movie debut in 2009, when he had a minor role in the TV thriller “Gunrush”, written by Richard Clark and directed by Richard Cottan. Perhaps the most significant movie role for Nick was in the 2018 Netflix’s Christmas comedy “The Princess Switch”, written by Robin Bernheim and Megan Metzer, directed by Mike Rohl, and which also starred Vanessa Hudgens and Sam Palladio. The film’s main premise is that the two female leads have switched places because they look identical, which was inspired by the Mark Twain novel “The Prince and the Pauper”. Nick plays the role of Kevin Richards, best friend of one of the main characters, Stacy, and due to its popularity, in 2020 Netflix released a sequel entitled “The Princess Switch: Switched Again”, with another sequel entitled “The Princess Switch 3”, set to be released late in 2021.

In 2009, Nick appeared in the pilot episode of the comedy “Just Like Family”, written and directed by Thomas Santiago Wright, and which starred Marla Gibbs and Garrett Morris. Sadly, due to low ratings the pilot received, more episodes weren’t been produced. The series was created by M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller, and it’s starring Alice Braga, Hemky Madera and Alfonso Herrera. It follows the life of Teresa Mendoza, a poor Mexican woman who becomes rich by building a drug empire of her own, with the premise of the source material being inspired by the real life character of Sandra Avila Beltran aka ‘Queen of the Pacific’, famous for being one of the first female drug traffickers to reach the highest level in a Mexican cartel.
The series received mostly positive reviews from the critics and public alike, and has so far aired for five season, with its sixth season set to for release in 2022.
From 2017 to 2021, Nick played the recurring character Charles Frederickson in the long-running crime soap opera “The Haves and the Have Nots”, created by Tyler Perry, and starring Tike Sumpter, John Schneider and Crystal Fox. The series follows the lives of three families from Savannah, Georgia, two being upper-class and one poor. It’s been running on the Oprah Winfrey Network for eight seasons, with the ninth season on its way.

Meantime, in 2017 and 2019, Nick played the recurring character Victor Aldertee, in nine episodes of the fantasy action “Shadowhunters”, created by Ed Decter, and which starred Kathrine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood and Alberto Rosende.
