Early Personal Life

Daniel Lee Kyre was born on 6 July 1994 in Columbia to parents David Lee and Tami. His familial circle included a sister named Melissa, and his grandmothers were Sue Horton and Nancy Kyre.

Despite this freely available information, there remains uncertainty about his parents’ professions and the reasons behind their relocation to the USA.

During his formative years, Daniel forged a lasting connection with his high school companion, Ryan Elias Magee. Together, they cultivated a shared passion for music that would significantly shape their future careers.

Education

Daniel pursued his high school education at Dutch Fork High School, South Carolina, concentrating on broadcast journalism and matriculating in 2012.

After this, he took the next step in his academic journey by enrolling in an unspecified university. However, it appears that he didn’t to complete his degree, likely influenced by his early involvement in the music industry, even before matriculation.

Career

Daniel had started his musical journey in 2010, by sharing his rendition of “Burglar” by The Shrees on SoundCloud. Though not consistently, he continued posting covers of various songs.

Following high school, Daniel and Ryan joined forces to enhance their musical skills. Together, they conceptualized their first collaborative piece, entitled “MAGEE – Timely Travel,” but which received minimal acclaim, and was promptly deleted from Ryan’s YouTube channel in 2012 due to lacklustre feedback.

Undeterred, their subsequent project, “Rodney the Frag Grenade,” presented a new challenge—deciding which of them would feature the song on their channel. In a solution to this quandary, Ryan and Daniel devised a name for their collaborative efforts, giving birth to the YouTube channel Cyndago, where the song found its new home.

The duo expanded their content beyond music, and by early 2013, with the release of their fifth video, they had already cultivated a dedicated following. Their channel’s primary focus was on comedy, with distinct roles assigned to each member – Daniel handled sound design and audio responsibilities, while Ryan took charge of editing and most of the directing.

The turning point for their success came in February 2013 when they collaborated with Markiplier on their third video. Initially hesitant, considering their status as a fledgling channel and Markiplier’s global YouTube fame, Daniel and Ryan were pleasantly surprised to receive a swift response.

Markiplier agreed to lend his narration to their thriller film, providing the duo with a significant breakthrough. This collaboration with such a prominent star played a pivotal role in catapulting their channel to new heights, contributing significantly to their growing popularity.

Establishing a close bond with Markiplier, the duo found themselves collaborating regularly while benefiting from the mentorship of the seasoned YouTuber. Their connection with Markiplier led them to L.A. in 2014, where they enjoyed a casual vacation with him.

Serendipitously, the University of Southern California Film Festival was taking place during their visit, prompting them to participate. Daniel’s film emerged victorious, claiming first prize at the festival, a catalyst, inspiring the pair to explore options to stay and work in Los Angeles.

Upon their return, they launched a donation page, seeking support from their fans to facilitate a permanent move to California.

The response was positive, enabling them to resume their work in the city. Their content evolved, featuring longer and more popular videos until an abrupt halt in 2015. They explained their hiatus, attributing it to a return to South Carolina to celebrate their birthdays, resulting in a four-month break.

Upon their comeback in August, the beloved Cyndago squad expanded with the addition of YouTuber Matt Watson, known for co-founding the Kids W/ Problems YouTube channel with his brother.

Within a few weeks, the trio made the official move to reside with Markiplier, aiming for seamless collaboration during what could be considered the zenith of their fame.

During this time, Daniel continued to nurture his musical career independently, sharing his covers on both YouTube and Soundcloud. Despite the apparent success, tragedy struck in September when sadly Daniel took his own life.

On 16 September 2015, Daniel made a suicide attempt and was discovered in critical condition in his room. He was promptly taken to an emergency room and later moved over to the intensive care unit.

Earlier that same day, Daniel’s dad had messaged him expressing joy about the collaboration between Markiplier and Cyndago, appreciating the music Daniel was creating for his guitar. Not receiving a response from Daniel, he got a call from an ambulance an hour later, notifying him of his son’s suicide attempt.

In response, family members immediately flew to L.A. to be by his side. After spending 48 hours in the I.C.U., Daniel was pronounced deceased on 18 September, succumbing to severe brain damage resulting from the incident.

His family let friends, as well as the public, know a day after his passing, creating a life tribute page for people to commemorate his life.

The news of Daniel’s death left his friends in a state of shock. Despite being a beloved and admired YouTuber and collaborating with one of the pioneers in this relatively new profession, Daniel struggled with depression for years leading up to his tragic death.

Nevertheless, it appeared that his condition was effectively managed through appropriate medication and mental health counselling. At this time, Daniel seemed to be thriving in his career, making it difficult for anyone to anticipate any issues.

In a compassionate response to Daniel’s passing, Markiplier initiated a GoFundMe account to support Daniel’s family, and created a video entitled ‘Lost a friend.’

The star also took an hiatus from creating and uploading content on his channel, to grieve the loss of his friend.

Through the official Cyndago channel, Daniel’s friends encouraged viewers to ask for help if they were experiencing depression or suicidal thoughts.
