Mariam Sayed Sameer Marbella Al-Alawi, known better as Ivana Alawi, was born in Manila, Philippines on 25 December 1996 – her zodiac sign is Capricorn, she holds Filipino nationality, and is also of part-Moroccan descent. She’s an actress, YouTuber and a model, who’s perhaps known best for her portrayal of Joyce, in the 2020 horror thriller movie “Sitsit”, written and directed by Ato Bautista, and which starred Jake Cuenca, Dido de la Paz and Sarah Patricia Gill. It’s made up of two movies, one featuring an old photographer who’s trying to find an ancient Chinese potion to make him young again, and the other a woman who’s adopted a stray dog, which has transformed into a monster to protect her from harm.
Early life, parents and education
Ivana was raised in Manila alongside her three siblings, by their Moroccan father and their Filipino mother. Her younger sister Mona Louise Rey is also an actress and a model.
Ivana became interested in acting while attending a local high school, and was mostly motivated and encouraged by her sister Mona, who had already launched her acting career. She appeared in a number of school plays, often playing lead characters, and upon matriculating in 2015, Ivana entered the Filipino reality TV talent competition show “StarStruck”. Career as an actress
Ivana’s acting career was launched in 2016, when she portrayed Princess in the pilot episode of the comedy series “Juan Happy Love Story”. Created by Denoy Navarro-Punio, it starred Dennis Trillo, Heart Evangelista and Gloria Romero, and follows the lives of a man with commitment issues, and a woman who’s a hopeless romantic, while the two are married.
The same year saw her play KC in the episode “The Rape Video Scandal”, and Young Lourdes in the episode “Ang Lolo Kong Prosti” of the drama “Magpakailanman”. It’s been airing since 2012, numbering over 380 episodes, and stars Mel Tiangco, Elle Ramirez and Lovely Rivero, while it follows the true story of Super Tekla. Ivana’s following role came in 2019, when she starred as Monique in the romantic drama film “Open”, directed by Andoy Ranay, and which starred JC Santos, Arci Munoz and Ina Raymundo. It follows a couple who have agreed to sleep with other people, to try and save their relationship. The movie was nominated for eight awards. In the same year, Ivana starred as Stacy Ramirez, in the action comedy movie “3pol Trobol Huli Ka Balbon”, written and directed by Coco Martin, who also starred in it, alongside Ai-Ai de la Alas and Jennylyn Mercado. It follows Apollo who has learned about a secret in his agency, and has been accused of murdering his former boss, who had learned the secret first and passed it on to Apollo, only to be murdered minutes later. Ivana’s highly secretive when it comes to her love life, and hasn’t spoken of any men (or women) whom she has perhaps been with. This is mostly why there are rumors circulating the internet concerning her current relationship status, as well as her sexual orientation.
It was reported in 2019 that Ivana was perhaps courted by the Congressman Dan Fernandez, after the two were seen spending time together on multiple occasions. Ivana quickly stated that he was only one of her friends, and that they occasionally went out together with their mutual friends, but that nothing romantic has ever happened between them.
