There isn’t much information in the media about their family, except that the name of her mother is Alisia Ramirez and that she has a younger sister. Of interest is that her grandmother Vern was one of the first women employed at the Chevron Oil Factory in the San Francisco Bay Area. Liana holds American nationality, and belongs to mixed ethnic group, as her father is Mexican, while her mother is African-American. She is very proud of her heritage, but has admitted that she isn’t fluent in the Spanish language.

Liana attended Temecula Valley High School, then enrolled into Arizona State University, where she studied Communication and Media for two years.

She then became interested in weather forecasting, so she transferred to the University of California, Davis, from which she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology in 2009.
