Early lives, families, and education

We will start with Kaine, whose real name is Eric Jackson, born under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius on 16 December 1978, in Atlanta, Georgia USA. He holds American nationality, and his ethnicity is African-American. He recently celebrated his 44th birthday.

D-Roc, whose real name is D’Angelo Holmes, was born under the zodiac sign of Aquarius on 13 February 1979, and he will soon celebrate his 44th birthday. He also hails from Atlanta, holds American nationality, and his ethnicity is African-American.

The duo hasn’t spoken about their families, but it’s known that they were raised by their parents in their hometown. They met when they were teenagers, and what brought these guys together is that both of them were born with a disability.

D-Roc was born with nubs on his left hand instead of fingers, whereas Kaine was born with a mild case of cerebral palsy that caused him to limp. They were often bullied, and didn’t have an easy life growing up, which bonded them, so they began to write and perform music together.

When it comes to their educational background, both Kaine and D-Rock matriculated from high school in 1997, then didn’t go to college but pursued their music career.

Rose to prominence

In 1999, Kaine and D-Roc formed the Ying Yang Twins duo, and choose these Chinese symbols for light and dark loosely because of their birth defects.

Their debut single “Whistle While You Twurk” was released in the early 2000s, and peaked at number 17 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Then on 25 April 2000, they released their debut album, entitled “Thug Walkin’”, which sold over 100,000 copies, although with the help of their catchy aforementioned single.

The Ying Yang Twins were becoming underground favorites, mostly because of their writing strip club anthems, which they also visited often.

Their second album, entitled “Alley: The Return of the Ying Yang Twins”, was released in 2002, and sold over 440,000 copies, and the same year they collaborated with Lil Jon, and the single “Get Low” was a huge success – the official music video for this song was nominated for the Soul Train Award – the Michael Jackson Award for Best R&B/Soul or Rap Music Video.

On 12 April 2005, the Ying Yang Twins released their album “Me & My Brother”, which was eventually certified platinum, and three songs from this album – “Naggin”, “What’s Happenin!”, and “Salt Shaker” (also a collaboration with Lil Jon) – launched the duo to stardom.

Later that year, the Ying Yang Twins were heard on Britney Spears’ album “In the Zone”, singing the song “I Got That (Boom Boom)”.

In the summer of 2005, the duo released another album, entitled “U. S. A. (United State of Atlanta)”, and songs from this album, “Shake”, “Badd” and “Wait (The Whisper Song)” were popular hits on all music and rap radio stations. The music video for the latter was nominated for the Music Television (MTV) Video Music Award for Best Rap Video in 2005, and also for two Teen Choice Awards for Choice Music: Make-Out Song and Choice Music: Rap Track.

Also for this song, in 2006 the Ying Yang Twins were nominated for the Grammy Award- Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

Their fifth album, “Chemically Imbalanced” was released in 2006, and their latest album, “Ying Yang Forever” was released three years later. However, the Ying Yang Twins didn’t achieve success with these albums as they had with the previous two.

Soon after releasing their latest album, they started “Ying Yang Forever Tour”, which was quite successful.

Kaine and D-Rock made appearances in the 2005 movie “Clean Up Men”, and portrayed Justin and Schaef in the 2012 movie “Mountain Mafia”, while their songs were heard in movies such as “The Proposal”, “17 Again”, “Ride Along”, and “Coach Carter”.

Their hit song “Halftime (Stand Up and Get Crunk)” is considered an unofficial anthem of the New Orleans Saints team, and is a standard in many National Football League (NFL) football stadiums. The word ‘crunk’ is a term used to describe an attitude, a combination of the words ‘crazy’ and ‘drunk’ which is now a style of southern rap.

The Ying Yang Twins are still performing across the U – most recently they were seen in Dallas and Nashville. In January 2023, they released a live mixtape, entitled “Ying Yang Twins- Turbo”, which can be heard on Spotify.

About their love lives, relationships, and partners

D-Roc is known to have been married twice. He has daughter from his first marriage and two children from his second marriage, but their identities haven’t been revealed. He came to public attention in 2014, when it was revealed that he’d been arrested after allegedly beating his wife. It’s unclear whether that was his first or second wife, but he refused to comment on what happened.

When it comes to Kaine, his dating history is unknown. He’s very secretive when it comes to his personal matters, and although he was the subject of numerous rumors about his sexual orientation and his love life, he hasn’t commented on these assumptions.

As of February 2023, it is believed that both duo members are single.

How rich are they? Net worth

Being huge stars in the early 2000s was for the Ying Yang Twins a dream come true. Perhaps you would think that the rappers have amassed a huge amount of money and that they live in luxury, however, several sources estimate that their net worth is just $100,000, although this would appear conservative..
