Born Amaria Williams under the sign of Gemini on 20 June 1996, in Atlanta, Georgia USA, Omeretta the Great, or simply Omeretta, is a 27-year-old African-American rapper, television personality and social media celebrity. She is probably easiest to recognize around the world thanks to having participated in MTV’s popular reality TV series entitled “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” although her musical achievements have also added to her overall fame. She’s experienced certain successes over the course of her sometimes remunerative musical career since 2016.
Early life & education: Growing pains
Omeretta was raised alongside her three siblings in their birthplace, by their father Marreo D Williams, and mother Mohummad Niobia, both of unknown professions. Her brother’s name is Rashid, and she also has two sisters, Nyrobi and another with an unknown name but accessible Instagram profile. The four grew up in a somewhat troubled environment, seeing as their neighborhood wasn’t considered one of Atlanta’s safest, leading to her father’s frequent interactions with local convicted felons. The constant tension eventually boiled over in the worst manner possible, resulting in Marreo’s death in July 1997. Most Williams children thus grew up with no living memory of their father, which would in its own way direct and inspire Omeretta’s creative endeavors.
Her childhood interests centered heavily on rap music, owing to its uncanny ability to tear at the heartstrings with honest, raw lyrics. Omeretta found it easy to empathize with rappers who were popular at the time, and who spoke of enduring very difficult childhoods – a concept she understood well. This translated into an early penchant for writing lyrics, especially poetry, as revealed by Omeretta in her interview with HOT 97.
She also touched on education at the time, stating that the local high school she attended in her birthplace didn’t offer much in the way of a musical education, which negatively impacted the rapper’s early prospects and artistic development. She enrolled into Georgia’s Savannah State University in 2014, following her matriculation, pursuing a degree in mass communication solely for the purpose of maintaining some sort of connection with the music industry, through radio and media avenues. However, she dropped out in 2015 to find employment instead, put in dire straits by her financial situation at the time.
Career: The eternal grind
Omeretta initially performed various odd jobs to keep herself afloat, working at several restaurants, such as Joe’s Crab Shack, American Deli and Panera Bread, but also at an Amazon warehouse for a time, alternating between waiting tables and stacking boxes. She used these initial funds to stand on her own two feet and plan her future endeavors, investing the first bit of extra cash into studio hours to produce her debut track. “Yung Mari x Show Me Sum” was released on Soundcloud in 2016, followed by her first studio album later in the year, entitled “Black Magic: A Dose of Reality.” It was as though the rapper knew from the outset that she would make it big time in the industry, creating her own Omeretta Records label, to release her first music collection. The album had 10 unique tracks, each of which featured heavy use of explicit language – something her audience came to appreciate almost immediately.

Over the next few years she slowly trickled out new singles into her discography, starting with “I Owe” in 2017, as well as another two later in the year. It also included “C2z3, Vol. 1” – her first EP of sorts, though labeled as a single, featuring three tracks. 2018 saw another five songs pop up under her name, among which the second EP entitled “Trapped” stood out, with another three tunes. She released three more singles in 2019, with “You Ain’t Bout It” being by far her most popular product at the time, but quickly overshadowed by her second full-length album release which came near the end of the year, under the title of “Welcome to the Jungle,” featuring 16 original songs.
2020 wasn’t a very productive year for the rapper, as she decided to slow down and dedicate herself to improving the quality of her future releases, having made an identifiable impact on the industry that allowed her the status of a well-established performer. She followed up with another three releases in 2021, with “Do Too Much” taking the cake as one of her most successful creations. The next year was the most fruitful in her career thus far, featuring six original new singles, most prominently “Sorry Not Sorry,” as well as her third album, entitled “Emotional Gangsta.” Finally, 2023 seems like another purposeful hiatus year, with only “Bigger” coming out over its duration.
In early 2024 the rapper maintains a decent 40,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, which is noticeably higher compared to her earlier years.
Her growing influence
Omeretta sat down with revolt.tv on 21 March 2022 to reflect the significance of Women’s History Month, acknowledging her recent immersion in women-centric environments, such as attending the Billboard Women in Music awards, which deepened her appreciation for the contributions of the fairer sex. When asked about her sources of inspiration, Omeretta highlighted influential figures like Rihanna, Rico Nasty, and Billie Eilish, admiring their authenticity and fearlessness in carving their own paths.
Regarding the viral success of “Sorry Not Sorry,” Omeretta admitted to being overwhelmed by the response, expressing gratitude for the support while remaining focused on her journey as an artist. The conversation shifted to the motivation behind the song’s lyrics, with Omeretta explaining that her frustration stemmed from individuals falsely claiming Atlanta as their hometown. Receiving validation from fellow artists like Latto and T.I. further solidified Omeretta’s stance on the matter, as their endorsements lent credibility to her perspective.
She dismissed the concerns of critics questioning the authenticity of her video’s Atlanta setting, asserting her genuine connection to the city and the symbolic significance of the location chosen for filming. The unexpected recognition of her song at the Balmain fashion show in Paris added another layer of validation for the rapper, proving the global impact of her music. In terms of her role in the industry, Omeretta remained committed to paving the way for young female emcees, offering an alternative path that prioritized authenticity over conforming to stereotypes.
Love life: Does she have a boyfriend?
Omeretta’s only known romantic partner is Tabyron Rashad Smith – a convicted felon sentenced to 27 years in prison in October 2017. It’s unknown how the two met, but on 10 March 2022 the rapper appeared in the “It’s Tricky with Raquel Harper” podcast by TMZ network, revealing that she was ready to wait the entirety of his prison sentence to fully enjoy their future marriage, as they had become engaged by that point. Her devoted fans were outraged at the news, ranting on social media that Omeretta deserves a much more fulfilling relationship.
She also took the opportunity to put MTV’s producers on blast for the way she was treated during her short stint in the first half of the tenth installment of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” which aired in 2021. According to Omeretta, they focused way too much on the romantic aspects of her life, which obviously brought Tabyron’s incarceration into the limelight. Those few who hailed the rapper’s willingness to wait 27 years for love ultimately had their bubbles burst, as she announced being single in a tweet on 6 December 2022. The details of why they broke up have remained behind closed doors, but the fans reasonably assume that Omeretta made the decision not to wait after all. Since then she hasn’t been seen with any other potential partner in public, and is by all accounts single in early 2024.
Net worth: How rich is she?
Some of the most credible sources on the matter have approximated Omeretta’s total accumulated wealth at over $400,000. She’s earned this fortune over the course of her seven-year musical career, with the overwhelming majority of her income coming from streaming platforms and sale proceeds, namely Spotify and iTunes. She also earns a somewhat negligible chunk from YouTube ad revenue, as her music videos are all posted there.
Body measurements: What is her height?
Omeretta is 5ft 6ins (168cms) tall, and weighs approximately 119lbs (54kgs), with vital statistics of 35-24-36. She has pitch black hair and dark brown eyes, with a noticeably dark complexion, and a body type most often described as curvaceous.
