Taylor moved to Los Angeles, California, USA, with her family, which turned out to be a smart career move for her. She began by appearing in television commercials, and slowly made transgression into television acting.
Her on-screen debut was as Minister Rozhan in the TV sci-fi action series “Star Trek: Hidden Frontier”, which starred David Dial, Barbara Clifford and John Whiting.

In 2005, Taylor secured the role of her career, when selected for the part of Lavagirl in the superhero action-adventure comedy film “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl”, written and directed by Robert Rodriguez. The film follows a young boy who dreams of two superhero children, Sharkboy and Lavagirl, then on a fateful day, a tornado strikes, and this boy’s dreams become reality as he is whisked away by his two imaginary superheroes into their world to help them save their planet. Her co-stars were Taylor Lautner as Sharkboy and Cayden Boyd as the young boy Max, and the film became an absolute hit, launching Taylor to stardom.
