Age, Early Life, and Education Background
Omeretta the Great is the stage name of Amaria Williams, who was born under the Gemini zodiac sign on 20 June 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia, making her 27 years old as of early 2024. She’s the daughter of Matteo D Williams and Mohammad Niobia aka Akilah, who used to be her manager. Her dad, Mateo, died in 1997 – she has hinted that his death resulted from gang-related violence. Her first SoundCloud track was “Yung Mari x Show Me Sum”, uploaded in 2016. In the same year, she released her debut album “Black Magic: A Dose of Reality” under her record label, Omeretta Records. She released another album under her record label before signing with TSO Music Group OTG, under which she released her third studio album “Trapped” in 2018. In 2019, Omeretta the Great released another album entitled “Welcome to the Jungle,” which was followed by “Self Inflicted” in 2021, releasing the latter together with the American writer, composer, and performer, Will Power.
In 2019, Omeretta caught the public’s attention when she participated in the #Megatron Challange, which saw her featured on Nicki Minaj’s Instagram account in a post that was captioned ‘reasons she deserves to sign to the Queen: mad pretty, dope accent, pen game strong.’ Her rapping skills have gotten stronger as she continues releasing music and in 2022, a verse from her track “Sorry Not Sorry” sparked a heated debate on what areas of Georgia are considered Atlanta. 2023 saw Omeretta release the album “Emotional Gangsta,” which comprises eight singles including “Back to the Basics,” “Traded on Me,” and “Mr. Right.” The album boasts guest appearances from Key Glock and Tink, among other artists.
“Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta”
In mid-2021Omeretta began appearing in the 10th season of VH1/MTV TV reality show, “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta”. In the show, she gives the audience a closer look at her personal and professional lives highlighting her experiences as she struggled to make a name for herself in the hip-hop scene, while navigating family issues. In her first episode (episode two), the Atlanta native talked about having a rough childhood, and it was evident that she was feuding with her mom over a diss track that she’d released. In the track, accusing her mother of choosing a man over her own children. In response, her mom denied her allegations, calling her ‘stubborn’ and ‘spoilt’ – she then told her ‘You’ve always been hurt your whole life that I never could give you your daddy. That’s what I feel like your pain is.’ Fans commended the rapper for opening up about her mother, with many noticing how similar the mom-and-daughter duo looked.

Omeretta began dating Tabyron Rasshad Smith in early 2012. In 2017, Smith was arrested and subsequently sentenced to 27 years in prison for robbing at least 10 Asian-owned stores in Atlanta. In addition to spending five years under supervision after his release, Smith was ordered to pay $135,950 in restitution. Omeretta announced their breakup in November 2022 shortly after releasing her track “Sorry, Not Sorry.” Before breaking up with Smith, Omeretta faced criticism for dating and inking tattoos of her incarcerated boyfriend – some pointed out that Smith didn’t deserve her loyalty, and others warned her that she would regret her decision in the future. Omeretta the Great sparked a controversy in August 2017, after she posted a picture of herself in a Native American costume on X, and captioned it ‘Chocolate Pocahontas’. Numerous people, including a Crow tribe member named Cheyanne Saver, criticized her for being ‘a culture vulture’ and told her to keep her hands off her culture. Saver came to her with a series of six tweets accusing her of sexualizing the native women, and criticizing the use of the name ‘Pocahontas,’ which she termed as ignorance.
